Do kingdom halls tend to have few windows? If so why?

I was looking at some pics of KHs and I remembered something I'd noticed while dusting my feet off outside a JW hall - very few windows. Is that a policy or was I just at the back of the building...?

I can't say why for sure, but windows do add cost to construction not to mention upkeep and heat loss.

I was told it is to stop the young ones looking out the windows & having their mind's captures away from the speaker. There is a Watchtower or awake I cant remember which that shows a child looking out the window ----& day dreaming...

Insurance, lower contruction costs, reduced vandalism, to help the new ones get used to not looking around...

Obviously you weren't paying attention to the sign out front:

KHs around here half have windows, half do not. It depends on cost...insurance, cheaper to construct w/o windows, and not necessary with the more sophisticated HVAC systems today.

I remember one old KH that had windows. On hot summer days (no AC) the windows would be opened and 2 large floor fans (human height) would be stationed on the end of either aisle and it was let er rip.

You could not hear any one commenting. The air was moving above your head but never touched the sweat going down your face. The traffic sounds would thunder in through the windows. When the windows were closed off and central air installed along with carpeting, everyone thought the new system had come.

We had quite a few windows in the KH. They were practically at the ceiling so no-one could day dream out of them. Luckily there was a significant window cleaning contingent that took turns to look after them.

On the Quick builds it saved time, on insurance it saved almost half the rate, on heat/cooling it lowered the BTU load, and in service it provided lots of openings to explain "no we do not do it keep people from seeing what goes on during the meetings" (wouldn't go out inviting people to the meetings all the time is we did dumb-ass)and "no, we do not sacrifice chickens during service by ripping their heads off (you dumb-ass idiot)" and "no we do not drink their blood afterwards (you ignorant bast**d)."

It's so that during the meetings the R&F are not distracted by looking out of the windows.

I was always told of two reasons:

Helped keep possible break ins from happening, but second, and more importantly, was that when the persecution really hit hard, the witnesses could hide in the hall, and no one would know, as they would not be able to see inside.
