Anyone here make beer-butt chicken? It's some of the best chicken you'll ever have. You take a fryer and put a beer can with about 2/3 of the beer in it and whatever spices on the chicken on it, cook it indirectly on the grill til done, and WOW. The beer keeps it moist on the inside (Actually, I use a roaster but you have to inject it with a syringe because it's so big so it does'nt dry out on the grill, but you get a lot more chicken!) Anyone else done it? I have a plan for it that I'm gonna do in the next day or so, back with more. Any one else wanna share there beer can chicken recipe?

you mean you actually insert the can?

yup. Not a live chicken of course. The can acts as a combination stand and it also allows the beer to steam up into the cavity and marinate the chicken from the inside.

I have had it made in a smoker. We call it "violated chicken." There is a restaraunt in Dallas called Bone Daddy's that serves it.. Great option when you dont have a smoker such as I do not own one now! You are correct... It is awsome. If you put a half lemon up there before the beer can...out of this world!!! Try it.

OK,maybe I'll do it in my smoker!! For my purposes with this recipe, I don't know if a lemon will work. Damn, i dunno if I can keep it a secret this long!!
Aww, the hell with it, I won'!! Maybe I'll get better ideas that way!
I'm gonna try a variation on Coq au vin. I'm going to inject the roaster with wine and butter, and instead of using a "boquet garni" I'm giong to use it as the rub. Instead of using beer, i'm going to put wine in the beer can. I'll probably stuff the shallots up above the beer can and grill the carrots, mushrooms and potatoes. Whaddya think?

I would drink the beer first then skewer the chichen butt

That's why you have to bring the beer's friends!!

Tried it and it is definitely the juiciest chicken I have ever had...plus, like you said it makes a neat little stand for the chicken in the grill.
You should also make some fresh beer battered onion rings to go along with the chicken.

hmm...beer, eh? I've done chicken marinated in Southern Comfort and jalapenos before and steak (when I ate red meat) cooked in Coke and rum....but no beer. Sounds like a good idea though.
