Worldly Wife, tell him that you aren't worldly, you are cosmopolitan thank you very much. What a stupid label, I've got a few labels for the dubs and I don't think they'd like them very much.

I hear you loud and clear. It is offensive to hear & read it all the time. My husband's response? Well then don't read it!!

So if he belongs to this group that talks & acts this way, but I'm supposed to be ok with it cause he never calls me worldly - or false christian, so-called christian, etc etc etc cause they have a million derogatory terms - .....

so the way I feel is my fault. Ok I get it -

    Worldly Wife,

That is just plain rude. I'd tell him so and also tell him to skip the lecture because you know what his position is and don't want to hear it adnaseum. Tell him he needs to knock it off in his intolerant labeling of people. I'd ask him how he'd like it if you came up with a couple labels for his buddies to use in front of your daughter; 'cult members' comes to mind...

Grrrrr.... But then again, that's just me...

    Hi Worldlywife,

Yes that point about substituing NORMAL for Worldly is perfect. They are the nuts. You need to speak up it is demeaning to you to referred to as worldly. I don't know how you bear it. Another one that realy gripes me is unbeliever which means a person who not a JW to the JW's. The bible speaks of unbeliever as person who does not believe in Jesus Christ. But JW's miss use the term alot. Speak up you have every right to fight their ignorance. You kids are JW too? They will come to feel the same if their being raised as JW, it will screw them up good.

You have every right to be outraged.

Oops.... I must correct something. He has never called me "worldly", sorry if I gave that impression. When I hear conversations like this one that he had with his daughter, and her referring to her friend's girlfriend as "worldly", I can only imagine what is said about me to his friends in the congregation, etc. His grown adult children are faithful baptised witnesses. My young children are not........and neither am I . Never been, never will be. I'm the total opposite of one. That's what makes hearing this so strange, and hard on me. If we're so bad, why did he choose me?

He's "weak"? He wasn't "strong in the faith"? I blinded him with my brains, beauty and sinfulness?

"worldly"...oh boy...this word always did tick me off at the KH.

"worldly" as in my family, non jw friends, and now me since I stopped attending meetings. It really bothers me. When they use that word they are speaking about people that I love. It's as bad to me as them calling the people I love "sleazy" or "bad news"

You are the worldly spouse aka. "the project".

Yup. They'll be working on you forever!

I hate the term worldly. Anytime someone came over w/my conductor for my bible study, my husband was always spoke of and even introduced as "worldy" because he had no part w/jw's. He deserves more respect than that. I just went along with it but was still a little bothered. He's my "worldy, unbelieving mate". Why couldn't they just say "husband" instead?? Because he's not a witness?!

Good points, Jeannie. Their labels are putdowns in dubspeak and they don't like it when they're referred to as a cult. I totally see why now.

Wordly,Apostate and demons are pretty much in the same catagory in the cult world.

I can handle any as long as they don't call me a JW.

WW - just cut him off - and tell him that you are sure he would not want to have sex with a 'worldly' person would he? Maybe he will slow the derog a bit.
