JW's are the only ones that 'cling' to this name. And if this "jehovah" supports this organization with all it's corruption. I don't think I care to know him/her/it

I've gotten to the point that I don't have complete faith in anything that is written or said by any man or woman, which of course includes religion, medicine, or science. Since that leaves me to depend on my ability to understand all this, I'm just living in limbo with one thing I'm sure of, death.

Hello buttlight Why does the idea (as suggested by your handle) of seeing the light through my own butt ring such a bell? LOL

After just a couple of years, I've come to the point where I still do believe in "God," though I most often refer to It as "Prime Cause." "Jehovah" is, as Odrade says, and imo as well, just a tribal invention and a sociological perpetuation.

EVERYTHING they taught me as a kid is out the door...including their impotent Jebooboo.

I'll start again from scratch, thanks.

Just like you grow up and learn Santa Claus is not really I wonder is Jehovah a made up entity of the WT-----------but for my own heart and mind I need to believe and know there is a God who cares about us humans in a loving way, not in a way to crush, kill, or destroy the way the WT teaches.

some believe in God but don't abide by any particular denominational belief system,

    Hello and welcome, Buttlite.

(I know you're MUCH better when chilled )

I happen to believe in God, but I avoid using the name Jehovah because of all the unpleasant connections relating to when I was a JW. I enjoy some of the Psalms and Proverbs, but I rarely refer to the OT for anything other than research. I find much more joy in the teachings of Jesus and what he truly represented to each one of us.

I still believe in God..in my Higher Power. That hasn't ever changed. I still pray to the HP of my childhood..and I still do use the name Jehovah because it is comforting to me. There was a period after I left that I didn't want anything to do w/a HP. Guess I was bitter. After awhile I realized how important spirituality (NOT religion) was to me and how I could define it in my own way. So while I'll never belong to any organized religion again, I am much happier knowing that I can create my own spirituality and pray to whatever or whomever I want.

    Hi Buttlight and everyone

I am new to the group also, and thanks for letting me in..

Here is my take on your question, buttlight: Religion is for controlling people, spirituality is a personal expression, something that is uniquely YOU, also the Jw's would have you believe otherwise.

You are not weird by discarding some of the teachings and keeping some. You are experiencing personal growth and personal choice, and thats an awesome thing! After all, your spirituality has to fit you, not some cookie cutter (mean cookie cutter at that) recipe of faith. You will likey adapt some beliefs that are contrary to JWs'and that great and very liberating!

Its OK..".When the pain of staying the same is greater then the pain of change..change is inevitable!"

    Take care

    Irene(who has since turned pagan)
