    mouthy,

Well what a clever fellow. During the war- those things came in very handy.... Hope it will never be used for anytthing like that

i hope not either. during disasters, ok, but no wars. i didnt have this up in time for all those hurricanes last year. i hear it was a major help to have our "legacy" radios around when all comunication broke down in the south.

    95stormfront,

why are you guys always showing off your large "tools"
when you got it, why not flaunt it? outoftheorg,
Get any gripes from neighbors re. their tv's ?
thats the great thing about cable tv, no more complaints. however my sister in law upstairs has touch lamps that go on all by themselves (and off as well) when i'm on 40 & 80 meters. there is no way to get around the expense involved in replacing tubes. look at it this way.....older radios are cherished. how much will it cost to repair an old radio verses buying a new one? new ones today are AT LEAST 500-1000 usd to start, to say nothing of the power supplys tuner and ect for add ons. as badly as i'd love a modern up to date radio, my kenwood ts530s with its TUBE finals is impressive SOUNDING. the audio is awsome. and it looks cool on my desk. see....
Have you skipped far?? Any cool friends in distant places?

    Zev,

That Titan DX is the same antenna that I've been thinking about getting. Was it much of a project to get it all together?

I need to get my station back on the air again too. Icom 735. Once I do, we will have to have a rag chew.

    HEY THERE HAPPYDAD....

it was 5 hours for me to take down an r7000 cushcraft and assemble and raise this titan up.

i cannot say enough about how well it performs! i spend allot of time on 20m which i now have an swr that is completely flat across the entire band.

the only band thats rather high is 15m, on the low side of the band. i like to run low, i do allot of rtty and psk. but i can be coaxed to plug in the mike ....... so once you get yous up, let me know and we can set up a regular sked or something......an ex-jw sked? ha!

if you need any pointers or anything let me know.

one i can give you before you buy it......

follow the instructions. if you do, the thing will go smoothly. i took a long time, because i didnt want to rush, mess something up and have to take it down, and put it up again. i went through that about 100 times with the r7000 because it had bad traps and i was trying desperately to fix it. i retired it. the titan went together smoothly, and went up only one time. to stay. for now.

also, its suggested to build the counterpoise around the antenna while its in its place mounted. if you can, do it. the counter poise is all of 6 feet across and makes for a rather clumsy handling when its attached before you stand it up on its perch.

cant wait to hear from you. pm me or email me ( look at the properties of the photos, i'm sure you can figure out how to get to my websire, and my email addy is there).

    good dxing to ya!
