Yes, Jackson was disassocited in the mid 1980s under the old arrangement that allowed for the disassociation of non baptized publishers, which was the equivalent of the disfellowshipping of a baptized witness.
Jesse Jackson thinks Michael is a traditional Christian and a good JW

They recently reported on the news that Michael had called Jesses Jackson in to pray for him.
How can MJ be a JW and ask a non-believer to pray with him or for him? When I heard that I just assumed MJ was no longer a "Real " JW?
Snoozy...

I was at his hall the night he was publically reproved (shortly after 'Thriller' was released).
He absolutely was an active witness (unbaptized publisher, I guess)
Little bit later, as Randy said, there was a hush-hush agreement that he no longer considered himself a witness and the congregation just left him alone. Mother and at least one sister (Rebbie) remained fully active.
I would imagine that with all this negative press and accusation that he will take comfort from whoever will offer it. Mother is JW so he will wear the JW title if it brings him comfort and understanding.
So sad on so very many levels.

Pardon me if this has been posted; it is the WTS letter stating MJ's status:

So if his mother remains an active witness, how come she allowed him to not only throw her a birthday party with gifts, but to film it and allow it to be televised? How can this be and she didn't get into trouble??

The rich and famous are different.
And different rules apply.

According to my source James Pellachia(Spelling?) As a representative for the WT had several talks with MJ and MJ told him it has not him that would sue the WT if they said anything bad that damaged his reputation but the record company that he contracted with would sue the WT and that MJ hands were tied. James Pallechia had many good things to say about MJ and this was around the time that "Thriller" came out and caused quite a stir I think Quincy Jones durring award nite had some vailed comments that could have refered to the WT organization, indicating there were some that opposed it's being put on the market.

Jessie is an oxymoron, this just shows what any person who has a brain knows, jes is a press hound who would pimp his own mother if it could get him 10 min, of press time.
He is a low life of the first order, and can not be given the smallest amount of respect. The statement alone that "he is a traditional Christian he is a jw" shows he went in not knowing
1] Jackson is no longer a witness, he disassociated him self several years ago, and the dubs do not accept him as a dub.
2] jes obviously does not know what a witness is as traditional Christian and drbber together is an oxymoron.
Remember when king was shot this is the man that ran to the body and rubbed his hands in blood and smeared it all over him when the press showed up and held the body in his arms for posterity. he is a joke of a human, cavorting with a joke of pop star. These people need to be euthanized.

I remember reading an interview with Michael Jackson right around the time that he released the album "Bad" (circa 1987, same time as the letter from Blondie). He was asked if he had disassociated himself from the Witnesses and he replied "Yes".
I'm not sure why he is now considering himself a Witness, but asking Jesse Jackson to council him spiritually is considered by the Witness as "Interfaith" and is grounds for being disfellowshipped. There are a lot of other reasons why Michael would not be a brother in good standing, but then Prince has many of the same issues and many have confirmed that he is a baptized brother.
