Yes I remember that first day of school quite well. I lived with my grandparents back then, who spoke an old Flemish dialect which most Flemish people don't even understand. It was the only language I had ever been exposed to. I went to a Dutch school in the Netherlands and didn't understand a single word of what was said. I remember feeling very strange that first day. Didn't know anyone and didn't understand a word of what was said. Although I picked up the language very easily, I was isolated during my entire time in school. Of course, shyness doesn't help.

I don't remember being in school on the first day but I do remember the drive there!
My dad was driving me and it was only about 5 or 6 blocks. For some reason I thought I didn't get to say a good enough goodbye to my mom and I spazzed out and bailed out of the car door! (This was after the first attempt, so he had slowed the car down)
The Kindergarten teacher, Miss Pendleton, was very nice though.
