Okay Sixy, c'mon... explain the ref.

(Edited to add: Is this a response to Pat Buchanan comparing those who want to let Schiavo die to Nazis?)

eh, it's just silliness... it's what I hear when I hear Schiavo (ya vol)...for the millionth time. I just wonder how people manage to muster up such passion for this situation? It sucks either way; that's no recipe for passion. Let her die, kill her quick, or torture her for a few years more. Yeah buddy, those choices are worth fighting for. From the Hogan's Heros fan club web site: herr - master, lord, sir, mister

    ja - yes

jawohl (ya' vol) - yes; yes, sir!

    kamerad - comrade, chum

    kommandant - commanding officer, commandant

Sixy, did you see "Auto Focus"? Very interesting movie. I was a big "Hogan's Heroes" fan when I was, um, LOTS younger.

I have the best of both worlds. Actually I am an intellectual and I am quite sexual.

That was a typical JW comment. Picking out the sex part of my reply and making it seem ugly. I was just saying she does not get to really live or enjoy life in the state she in.

Sex I need. Not being able to lie in bed naked with man exploring each others bodies or just flirting with him would be the end of me.

The comment above is all about you, not about her. Given the subject of this thread, I will admit that it did make me wonder whether you had much between the ears.

I am quite sure that I have misread you of course.

Geez, I'm tryin' to be a uniter here!

Ok, I can span this rift, deftly bringing Hillary, TXsexillectual's value of life theorem, and my disgusting flippancy about this poor womans suffering together in a trivia question: what 1982 movie was Sting's first role?

While sex is important to a lot of adults and married couples for sure, I can think of so many things that would make Terri's existence miserable. When you lie in bed or just sit around, you ache all over. When you're in the shape Terri's in, you can't turn yourself over to try to be more comfortable. You can't scratch your itches. (Well, I am assuming she can't scratch if she itches.) You can't taste food. You have no choice who visits you. You can't choose what music is played or TV show is on. You have to be diapered unless you are being bathed. That means you might lay there in your own waste for varying periods of time. There are so many things that make you uncomfortable or cause you pain.

Think of all the things you would be missing out on.

I don't know enough about this lady's condition or what hope she has of recovering because I haven't read anything in depth about her. I had to make the choice to allow my mother to die. I consulted with what added up to around ten different doctors and nurses over the course of five months to make the decision. Mom's case was different from Terri's though. There were no feeding tubes involved. She was very helpless though. She had one crisis of septicemia and the doctor who cared for her told me that it would happen again. He told me that if it did that they could save her once again, but he asked me who they would be saving her for, my mother or her family.

The poor thing just sits there. Can't make love, go for a drive, go for a walk outside, eat whatever she wants besides hospital food.

    She really has no life.

Please...PLEASE don't make me bore everyone else on this thread with another of my rants...

I am a person with a disability....use a wheelchair...just sit here.....can make love, but not without pain...can drive when I have a vehicle with a lift to get my chair in and out....certainly can't go for a walk outside...

What is the measure of a "normal life" ? Am I less of a person for not being able to look like everyone else or do the things that others do ?

Should Terri be starved to death ? I don't know. There are lots of people in nursing homes all over the country..the world....that are very low function..."vegetative" -- such a pretty, humanizing term. My post responding to these comments is NOT about Terri...it is about how people can think like this, in these general terms about someone who is different.

I hear it all the time.... "I could never live like you"...."I'd rather die than be stuck in a wheelchair"... They say it...right there in front of me, like I can't hear them...or like it doesn't make me feel like total sh*t that someone thinks that my life is so terrible that they would rather be DEAD than be me.

I'm going to quit now before i get more frustrated...

rwagoner, I understand your point. One thing though, Terri is not merely handicapped.
