The other day I had an experience that made me want to seek out more information about the Jehovah?s Witnesses, and this forum was one of the first things I found on the internet.
I apologize, in advance, if this is not the proper place for this:
I am posting this as a plea to the Jehovah?s Witnesses to please stop harassing the general public. Bothering us at home is bad enough, but the other day a group of your followers was harassing people outside the local supermarket.
Please learn to be respectful and courteous of other people. Please learn how to read body language. There are many clues a person will give you that says "NOT INTERESTED" just by their body language. As most of you are aware, if you harass enough people, you are bound to get plenty of doors slammed in your face. But most of us won?t do that. We respect you (even if you don?t respect us) and we respect your religion (even if you don?t respect ours). And we are very polite when you bother us. But, we also give you plenty of clues that we are not interested in what you have to say. I urge you to learn a bit of common sense and courtesy.
With the new laws affecting telemarketers, I?m sure it?s only a matter of time before the Jehovah?s Witnesses are no longer allowed to harass people in their private residences. When I was growing up, I remember a common practice among the Jehovah?s Witnesses was to bring along a mentally handicapped person, in order to get sympathy from the people they were harassing. Are you still allowed to take advantage of the handicapped? Or has the government finally put an end to this disrespectful behavior?
Is this why you are now pestering folks in public? Are you no longer allowed to invade peoples? privacy?
