There's no chance he asked to be removed purple?

    NO........I asked.

I know at one time we were talking about a part at an assembly I had.......and I was saying how the speaker was really rewording my answers. And then this elder told me that he would not do parts using his experiances if he could not use his own words and answers.

Ministerial servant was accused of possesing tons of porn in his PC, of being a drunkard, of exhibitionism and more. He also had 3 federal cases against him for fraud, he came out guilty of stealing his clients' money and giving it to his Dad (an elder) so he could open another business. The MS denied everything for months, even with witnesses against him on every accusation, and still they did nothing. At the end he confessed everything including adultery....Guess what? All they did was strip him of his position as MS and gave him a PRIVATE reprimand. His father is still an elder in good standing, even after the truth came out about is part on his son's crimes.

It always bothered me that this one elder in our hall was made to step down because of his kids... Just didn't seem fair.

He made them all go out in service, to the meetings, and was very strict...they just grew up to be teens with their own individuality coming through. Once they got married and all moved out, he was re-appointed. Very sad.

It sounds like having him say the closing prayer on that night was a purposeful act of the elders to let everyone know that he was still in good standing.

    1. Removed for imorality = bad standing

    2. Removed for apostacy = bad standing

    3. Removed for loose conduct = bad standing

    4. Removed for causing divisions in the body = bad standing

This makes no sense. Nada, none. I cant think of any reason the body would have him removed, but he still allow him to pray in front of the congregation. This is really weird.

But on the flip side it depends who the Elder is. In my city, different hall though, the P.O.'s son was a wicked hell raiser. I mean, no lie, getting hammered every weekend, and having a "worldly" girlfriend, ect.. But still in good standing.... go figure

I knew of an elder removed for "fooling around" with a 17 year old friend of mine.(Along with other young girls) Instead of being disfellowshipped or arrested- he had to step down from his position. He actually had sex with her and after "stepping down" he would call her up and say that he still loves her. ( He even called when he was on a "romantic" vacation with his wife.) I know this is true, I was there listening on the other line.

My father was a ministerial servant. He had to "step down" when my mom caught him looking at little boy porn. Thank God he only had girls, my sisters and I.

Just goes to show you- They will go to any extent to keep up pretenses that they are perfect and the only ones that are holy enough to be called god's chosen people.

just really want to know what the process is as she(wife) said they have known about the possiblity of it since the CO's visit in December. and the announcement has just been made.

Sounds like the decision might have been made by the CO and not the BOE. I know of an elder that had to step down because his daughter wasn't coming to the meetings. When the CO left the elder was re-appointed. This elder is 65, maybe the CO didn't like him. It happens.

Of course, I have no idea what happened to this ex-elder but two facts stand out: They asked him to close w prayer after the announcement of his deletion from the list of elders, and the decision involved the CO and was only made public some months later. After 20 some years as an elder, allow me to speculate further, based on experience:

    1. Asking him to close with prayer was no accident; it was meant to send a message to the KH that his "removal" as an elder was NOT based on any wrong doing, poor judgment, or any other thing perceived as negative by the JWs. You can take this to the bank.

    2. The time lag between the CO visit and the announcement is routine... when the CO visits, one of the questions he is required to ask at the elder's meeting that is usually scheduled the Friday night of his visit is: Are there any deletions or additions to the list of elders or ministerial servants? Any proposed changes will then be discussed with the goal of having the CO concur with said change. The CO writes his report, which includes a note that the elders have recommended such and such deletion (or addition) and stating that he agrees with the recommendation (for specific, listed reasons). This report goes off to the WTS and the body of elders is instructed to WAIT until they get a letter back from "mother" before the announcement is made to the congo. This process can take two or three months.

That's all we know for sure. The reason for this decision is unknown but I would bet the real story is not very interesting or dramatic. He may be ill. He may feel he can't handle the pressure of being an elder (he is 65, old for some people). The information you are getting from him and/or his wife is not necessarily the whole story, but what they want you to know.
