Elders, has there been any "official" push to target and eliminate faders?

  Hey Current and Recently Stepped-Down Elders,

  Has there been any direction from the CO/DO/Brooklyn areas to go after the people suspected of 'fading'? It seems that we're seeing more and more folks getting elder's visits scheduled, like an explosion recently. Of course, when one person mentions it, it might spark another to say something when they wouldn't have before. And the Memorial's got all the elders forming lists of people to visit, no doubt. So it might just be those circumstances driving it or the appearance of it.

  Have you been asked to look into this, directly or indirectly?

  It may be due to the Memorial that just passed. There's always a push to revive the "Memorialites"and attempt to accquire new attendance records. I had visits from a number of people this past Memorial season. But to no avail, I was busy drinking on the shores of the Caribbean. Maybe next year. He he he. NEVER!

  Historically, AA, this is the time the elders are pushed to call on inactive JWs. Usually, before the Memorial but if they were "busy," then after. Also, the CO looks at the inactive cards every six months and asks the elders if they have been called on...you think the rank and file fib on their time slips!....the elders have many reasons why they were unable to make contact...my husband calls them drive by visits...as you drive by you determine no one is at home and mark them off your list.

  There is no official nada from anywhere about eliminating faders. The official word is: They are still sheep, treat them like sheep, carry them back in like a lost little sheep if you have to.
  

  I dont see an elimination ever happening, of course it probably will, then yall will say: "See IPSec? See? We told you so... but no... you wouldnt listen."

  We got a letter saying to call on inactives and mates of actives during the memorial season. The SO is supposed to be on top of this. Since the SO is involved, in keeping track of who is called on and the results, you can be sure the CO will be checking on the progress. If the CO will be checking, you can be sure it's going to be done.

  Remember too, those elders are probably auxpioing mar-may. They can count time asheep herding.

  Not of the elder class (thank god) but I don't think there will be any "push" just to eliminate faders. I can think of at least 10 faders in my old congregation. Most have large extended family. On the surface they have commited no REAL sin.They just wanted out. If the WT boys tried to enforce a program just to get rid of faders it would blow up in their face with the back lash from relatives.

  On another post I did mention that they worded it to be able to DA or DF troublemaking faders easily IF THEY WISHED and I can see that happening.

  Not an elder, but I just got a visit from 2 elders an hour ago. It's been 18 months since their last visit.

  Just the usual please come back to the meetings.I mentioned the new OD book, and asked if that was why they were visiting today.

  "Nope. We were going to build a new KH. That's changed." Same reason as been reported on this site.(lack of $$$$$$$$$$$$ )

  "It's easier to consoladate congregations then build a new hall."said elder. "One congregation will be disbanded. So now we will have two congregations all mixed from the three."

  Probably a push on to contact inactive ones. I personally doubt if there is a push on to DA inactive ones. The sky may be falling, but not on us.

  I think it depends on the congregation. The congregation that holds my card is composed of some seriously lazy, apathetic elders who didn't bother to come and see me for a year and a half (that was last year before Memorial) and after Chris and I got done with them haven't been seen since.

  I ran into an elder from my dad's congregation (meets in the same KH as the one where my card is) at work the other day, and I cheerfully made small talk on the uncomfortable elevator ride to our respective floors. Hadn't seen him in at least two years. I mentioned that my mom died in February and he said, "yes, I know [LONG pause]. Uh, sorry." Oh yeah, REAL sincere. That told me what I needed to know: if he knew about Mom's death that meant his brother, an elder in "my" congregation, also knew, and I did not receive a single card or phone call at that time or since. "Loving brotherhood?" What a crock!

  It could be case. After 4 years of fading the elders have started visiting me and looks like they're gonna DF me (who knows). They wanted to have a judicial comitee. They must have heard i was living with my gf (although that was 2 years ago.) I told them i wasn't really interested in coming along to the Judicial comitee meeting. What was the point, I don't believe in it anyway. And if my parents are going to shun me then i'll take it up with them.

  But the funny thing is that after 4 years now my parents are saying that they can't have much to do with me! They were treating me fairly decent before. They new i stopped believing in it, although now i'm beginning to think they didn't really take me seriously and just thought i was a prodigal son who would come back.... ah ah ah no way!

  So yeah, this has all just started happening in the last month or so.
