PURPOSE

While looking for and answer to a question this morning I came across a scripture that REALLY made me think about the role that the WBTS might play in Gods plan. The scripture is:

    Romans 9:17...

For the scripture says to Pharaoh," Even for this same purpose I have raised you up, that I might show My power in you, and that My name might be declared in all the earth."

Now, we know that the Pharaoh was not a very "cool" dude as far as God was concerned, but God used him. Could God be using the WBTS just to get His name or the word of God out into the world right now. If this is a parallel situation (and it could be given that the witnesses are like slaves) then, would God be saying that THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS? Or, is the WBTS message just too far removed from the real message of the gospel to be of any use in leading (enough) people into a living relationship with God the Father?

In verse 20 of the same chapter God is asking the reader....in a round about way, why do you question my ways?

I would like to add that I haven't decided to give my support to the WBTS and nor will I, would I support the Pharaoh? NO. But maybe the WBTS has its place and if so, can we expect the deliverance of the slaves any time soon because Gods name has covered the earth?

Any comments, or should I go back to bed?

Thats a very thought provoking post actually...

I am sure thats almost a slant on what the WTS would like you to believe ...in other words they would equate it to biblical times when they would expect you to follow the leader of the day irrespective as to how wrong they are or were.

Gives them license to foul things up without question doesnt it?

With it's lies, false prophecies, and abusive policies the Watchtower is the greatest source of reproach on god's name. I would be surprised if he was using them for anything. I'm sure he could do better than that.

    diamondblue1974,

Let's not forget all the grumbling in the desert. Plus, clearly Moses was a man of God, we can only take the parallel so far.

I am equating the WBTS with the Pharaoh and the witnesses to the Israelites.

    iiz2cool,

I am in a relationship with God right now because of the WBTS. Lets say that they reintroduced me to the Bible that had so long become just another book on my shelf, I had dead faith, the WBTS got my ire up. Got me back in the battle so to speak. I am one sheep among many.

    iiz2cool,

Would the elect of God seek out the WBTS, my guess is no, BUT, would the false prophet, in recruting slaves, stumble upon the elect, yes. That would put them in a position to mislead, if possible. The WBTS is in this position, do you agree?

In this regard, perhaps the message to Gods people or the elect is to "WAKE UP" and flee or get active don't be dead in your faith.

Personally I think all religions are misleading people, but the Watchtower seems to be a little more proactive than most.

My ex had an interesting take on the society. She, even as a believing jw, felt that the society was a parallel of "apostate Isreal" but was still "God's organization."

Exodus 32:4 .........Then THEY said, "This is your God O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!" (speaking of the golden calf)

So, the GB maintains worship of this golden calf and if one sees the difference between the calf and God and continue to "worship" the calf they could be spoken of in Exodus 32:7...And the LORD said to Moses.......they have corrupted THEMSELVES. Thankfully, vs 14..So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.

Aaron, I might add took no responsibility for his actions in creating the calf, just like the GB, but God still used him.

I think that's a stretch, even if you do believe in "god". The Modern day Pharoah class? I guess the bible can be used to make any kind of argument, so this is just as "valid" as any other bible-based "argument".

Loving my quotation marks today! """"""
