Why is it okay for a JW to go to a show at a casino, eat at a casino buffet or go to a casino shopping mall but not work for a casino?

Good question, undercover. The money is basically going into the same pocket.

The second question is: Would doing this work make one an accomplice in a condemned practice? Clearly, a person employed in a gambling den, an abortion clinic, or a house of prostitution would be an accomplice in an unscriptural practice. Even if his daily work there was merely sweeping floors or answering the telephone, he would be contributing to a practice that God?s Word condemns.

In 1976 it was clarified that no Witness could be employed in a gambling establishment and remain in the congregation.

Eating food wherever is a "conscience matter". Going to a show benefits the singer's pockets more than the casino's. Oftentimes, you see free entertainment at the casino.

You still didn't answer the question :

"Why is it okay for a JW to go to a show at a casino, eat at a casino buffet or go to a casino shopping mall but not work for a casino?"

If you aren't allowed to work at a casino, even sweeping floors, because it is "contributing to a practice that God's word condemns", how is that any different from spending money at a casino, whether gamblig or eating, which is more directly "contributing to a practice that God's word condemns"?

sidenote: Where in "God's word" is the "practice" of gambling condemned? Where in "God's word" is the principle given that if one is employed by a gambling establishment as a floor sweeper that that person is to be removed from associating with the congregation?

Actually, according to a Vegas dub I used to be friends with, JWs in Vegas can and often do work for the casinos, as long as they don't actually work in the gambling section. The reasoning is that they're basically just large hotels with a lot of entertainment facilities, which include gambling.

As for the elder in the article, I think he was clearly referring to going to Vegas but not gambling. When I was a dub I went to Vegas with other dubs and it didn't even need any explanation... everyone understood that we were going to for the cheap non-gambling entertainment.

We have a casino not too far away from here. The casino has several showrooms.I know of local JWs who go there to attend shows, including elders. One time I even caught an elder's daughter at the slot machines. They say it's okay see shows there, as long as you don't venture into the gaming areas.
