Which is worse - the Jehovah's Witness or the Mormons?

  But I think Mormons are definitely easier to be in, socially. They attract flies with honey, not vinegar.

  BTW, my sil left the Mormons 2 years ago, after 25 years in... and she was completely shunned.

  I went to school with some fellow witnesses and some mormons... the witnesses were dressed better...

  I'd take the bullet. Without question.

  That having been said, for all it has it's own brand of wackiness, the Mormons appear less destructive than the JWs. Both are built on a raft of falsehoods and pipe-dreams, though. That having been said, many religionists (Christian and otherwise) may be in a similar boat with their personal creeds.

  DoubleEdge:Your list is far from comprehensive, though I appreciate that you probably only listed the main things that would affect your decision.

  Why do Mormons wear some kind of undergarment under their clothes? I heard that from a lady I used to work with. She was a Mormon and boy she had the foulest mouth I ever heard from anyone!

  I think I would take a bullet over either religion now that I know what it feels like to live a normal life.

  A friend of mine is a mormon, and I did go to a couple of their meetings, and got to know quite a few of them.

  They definately have some wacked out beliefs, but they are not as extreme as witnesses. They pretty much live a "normal" life, but they definately have their cultish traits as well.

  They are very family oriented, and seem to be a good bunch of people.

  If you do things that go against their teaching, you will be punished, though not as severe as the witnesses.

  Clearly this is not standard Christendom with these verses! The whole idea of Joseph Smith, temples and only male preachers (I've seen no women ever!) doesn't sound like standard Christendom to me.

  Yeah, I don't want to argue semantics but I charge any "religion" that claims to be "christian" to be such, as not one has proved to me they are truly footstep followers of their so called leader JC. Almost all "christian" faiths can't stand each other and make fun of each other and fight over who gets "Gods" sheep. Pathetic and amuzing at the same time.

  While serving where the great are needed in West Central Iowa in the early nineties TWO MORMON WOMEN PREACHERS came to my door while I was at home for lunch while pioneering. It was 5 below zero and they were going door to door. I was shocked... but it happened. So your assumption is wrong.

  "christendom" hates the Mormons because the Mormons are beating them at their own game, pure and simple. It's all about control and $$.

  For a religion to be "doctrinally correct" it would have to correspond to something which is impossible: The premise. Religions mostly insist on revealed information called "truth" from god. But, close examination of the holy documents always shines a light on the endless layers of manipulation. No god to be found. It all comes down to habeas corpus. Without a body you have no crime. God is missing. We end up listening to distorted mythologies that strain the mind into pretzels. The bottom line is always the same. You must surrender your will to a group of "others" who will control your life. Why have a mind at all if it must be surrendered? What religion on Earth can point to its adherents as exemplars of gracious living? All "claim" to; but the facts are not there when you investigate them. Mormons have their concocted tale and so do JW's. The both have their tiers of indoctrination. Mormons have a better social system of support for families and enable their members to participate in society at large. But, they are all full of crap. I'd chose Mormons while holding my nose. Terry
