I am a member of MENSA
stilla: I am a member of MENSA
I'm not. I would appreciate a PM explaining the purpose of the organization. I have considered becoming a member in the past.
Respectfully,

My jw ex-fiance was in Mensa! What do you do as a member, besides just being your usual smart self?
Very little really it is just a club of like minds I go get a newsletter
IQ 129 Word Warrior
I have not been called an Insightfull Linguist, but several girlfriends have called me a Cunning Linguist.
still- So what's all the juicy insider gossip at Mensa? Us dum-dum's want to know? (I speak for myself, of course.)
rob- Oh really! hehe Hey, we all have to be good at something!
Mensa means "table" in Latin. A Mensan is a member of Mensa, the High IQ Society, and is eligible to participate in Mensa sponsored activities with other Mensans. However, all Mensa activities are not just at a table. Mensans do all sorts of things together because intelligent people enjoy the company and stimulation provided by other intelligent people.
To qualify for Mensa, you must score in the top 2% of the general population on a standardized IQ test. In other words, you have to be smarter than 98% of the general population which is being the smartest out of every 50 people. If you have certified evidence of your intellectual performance at this level from a previous test administration you may present it to Mensa for consideration. But there is another way into this elite High IQ Society - the admission test.
I made the mistake of posting my official score once, got laughed out of Dodge by those who didn't believe me...
OS, Mensa is not everything it's cracked up to be...
