The May 2005 KM (US Branch version) is a bunch of tripe.

In the first article, Jehovah's Day Is Near, the writers are feeding the R&F more gloom-and-doom-the-end-is-near. The WTS knows the R&F are getting on with their lives and there isn't any real sense of urgency. Here are a few quotes from the article:

Christians ardently desire the coming of Jehovah's day, through whcich he will destroy the present system of things and usher in a new world of righteousness...
...the apostle John mentions "seven kings," representing a succession of seven world powers. John also refers to "an eighth king," which now represents the United Nations. Are we to expect other world powers to come on the scene? No, the prophecy states that this eighth king "goes off into destruction," after which no further earthly kings are mentioned. Does this prophecy help you to see where we are in the stream of time?...
...the enormous image seen by Nebuchadnezzar in a dream represents a succession of world powers. Each of these powers has already made its appearance. Where in the course of history do we find ourselves today? In the period symbolized by the feet of the image. The prophecy vividly describes what will occur next. Human rulership will be completely destroyed, making way for "a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin." Can you see how this shows that Jehovah's day is near?...
...May our public ministry continue to reflect the urgency of the angelic proclamation: "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of the judgment by him has arrived."

The rest of the KM, save 2 articles, deals with the family...5 articles dealing with the family, and an entire page with a blank Family Schedule.

The 1st family article is titled Make a Practical Family Schedule. A few quotes:

...A practical way to plan the activities of the family so that spiritual matters are given priority is to have a written schedule. Take a few minutes to make your own weekly family schedule, using the blank schedule on page 6...The sample schedule below may be helpfulas you make your schedule...
...it includes just four basic activities; (1) attendance at congregation meetings, (2) family field service, (3) the family study, and (4) the consideration of the daily text. Including these on your schedule can help you to "make sure of the more important things"...
...Your family schedule need not be limited to just those four activities. If you prepare for certain meetings as a family, make a note of that on your schedule. If you read a portion of the Bible together after considering the daily text or do so at another time, indicate that. If you typically share in some form of family recreation, you may wish to include that on your schedule.

Is the WTS scared they're losing their youth? It's no wonder when they emphasize dry/boring/dead activities like meetings, and then mention recreation as if it is an after thought, "recreation, you may wish to include that", wtf.

My blood pressure is rising as I read these articles, so I'll just post the titles of the remaining articles
The 2nd family article is Family Schedule-Congregation Meetings
The 3rd family article is Family Schedule-Family Field Service
The 4th family article is Family Schedule-The Family Study
The 5thfamily article is Family Schedule-The Daily Text

Each of those articles tells parents how they should be doing these activities with their children, and how to schedule it as a family.

The WTS Leaders either really don't have a clue or they're grasping at straws. They aren't growing in several countries, and their old school whack ass approach is only making things worse. The sad thing about it is that only a few will see these articles as a feeble attempt to hold things together, the majority will sit there and nod their heads in agreement. I feel sorry for the kids, as summertime approaches they should be having fun and enjoying their youth, instead too many will be wasting hours wishing they were somewhere else.

.the apostle John mentions "seven kings," representing a succession of seven world powers. John also refers to "an eighth king," which now represents the United Nations.

Since I wanna work for the Bethel Writing Department, let me grab my calculator...

Seven kings x seven world powers = 49
    49 x eighth king = 392
    392 + 1914 = 2306
    2520 - 2306 = 214
    214 - 120 noah years = 94
    94 + 1914 = 2008

Oh my god, Armageddon's coming in 2008!!!

Also, what's this about the UN?? I thought they dropped that! They need a new prophecy where the Faithful and Discreet Slave (mother) has spiritual sex with the eighth king just to gain spiritual sperm for it's righteousness.

    Hey, works for me!

And the family schedule crap? Yeah, that'll go over like a led foot with JW kids who don't wanna be JWs.

Interesting..so, which is it, 7 kings or 8 kings? This could be "new light" remember, the UN was never thought of as a world power. The world powers made up the "wild beast" and the UN was the "image of the wild beast" appearing to be but not a power. Waiting for the WT fluff to try to cover that one, but the R & F will just eat it up..."new light, we must be close!!"

    they better be...

    no youth equals no bethelites

    no bethelites equals no literature

    no literature equals no service

    no service equals no converts

no converts equals no "voluntary donations"

no "voluntary donations" equals some pissed off old men... poor old men

Jeeeezeeeeeeee I wonder just what a j-dub family considers recreation . I know , family, let's play bible trivial persuit. They demonize everything else in the world so we know sports is out , they aren't even allowed to play tennis with the concept of actually winning .

I got that Km last night and could not believe what I was reading as well.

First, they never learn their lesson. STill trying to predict what will come. NOTHING that they have ever predicted has ever come true. But they will not give up.

Second, that schedule for the family is incredible. Talk about trying to control every aspect of your life. What's next? Will they schedule a time for the bathroom?

    wanna

I was recently at bethel- and when you tour bethel- you can get advance copies of magazines... Watch for an upcoming issue of the Awake in june that has a "suggested" schedule for housecleaning. No shit... it tells you what to do daily, weekly, and semiannually. WTBTS has some definite control issues...
