Once the CO asked me why I think meeting attence was low. I said to him "there is too much Condemnation and not enought Commendation", he didn't say nothing, I realy think he didn't like the answer, probably because it was the right answer but not what he wanted to hear.

When they split our congregation into two, the attendance dwindled so bad, that there were elders meetings about pushing them back into one congregation, but they never did it. Also our hall was built before the society made all KH's have to be built alike, so we had like 300 chairs, and they were always mostly empty. It looked so bad that they eventually unbolted about 7 back rows and discarded the chairs, plus a strip of chairs from against both walls so that it would look more full. It's kind of depressing to go back. On the subject, when I did go visit mom after about a year of not going, it just seemed so odd that this building had once seemed so powerful and grand to me, and now it just looks like a silly empty and depressing meeting hall in the middle of nowhere.

Welcome Lone Ranger.
Good for you. CO's never like to be corrected by the "lowly" ones.

Goodgirl -- Your comments brought me back to the remaining visits at the KH, and last assembly. The magic and power of the Tower was gone, and even the buildings took on a cold nothingness. I could clearly see the setup for what it was, and nothing shined--"the Truth" was a lie after all. -

I hated having to get all dressed up to sit in my own living room I could never understand why all the pomp was so nessary
DL76 -- I knew a few JWs that helped build the factory at the WT Farm. They were required to change into other clothing before they could have lunch. These were the folks doing the free labor of building the Tower's factory, but they couldn't eat until they looked like a good little brain-dead JW. After lunch, they put on their work clothing again until dinner time.
When a cult is into control, "pomp" no matter how stupid is nessary. It teaches the follower who's in charge.
Of interest, the JWs I knew who put their jobs on hold to build the factory came back very bitter people. Their suits and ties couldn't hide it. -

Well, this was more than 10 years ago... but yeah it happened in our congregation. They disbanded the book study group that was in our house (because I was missing too many meetings - but not the book study!! - due to my being clinically depressed, although that's not the
reasonexcuse we were given) and everyone got farmed out to different groups.Of course, that just made it even harder to get to
easier to missall the meetings. The rest, as they say, is history. -

No, but they had to sell my local kh. Now they are building a new one that is a double-wide. It will hold two different kh's in one. More economical I guess.

PS: Bookstudys in ones home sucks.Reason(s): setting up the chairs sucks, some of the idiots/elders refuse to take off thier damn shoes, others brats, (due to utter boredom) continue to get up and flush the toilet into oblivion. some won't leave when you want them to. It's a pain in the arse.
I don't think you could have said it better...
Oh.. and by the way.. I think I may have been one of those habitual flushers.. Atleast I know I Spent AS MUch time as possible in the bathroom.. Going through the cabinents.. etc...
As for the bookstudies.. We never had them in our home.. But my inlaws did.. Thiers was soon disbanded due to the main Elders inability to keep his family in check.. How retarded!
