I don't know how they can say that with a straight face . AK. They don't seem to mind spending an hour on the local needs shake down if need be . True there is no collection plate but they will constantly remind people that the donation box is there for a reason . I've even seen some tithing going on but don't think the WTBTS has authorized it officially . They are so good at hiding things they boast are not like other religions but in reality are even more demanding than other religions .

I remember about a year or so ago, after the circuit assembly at the assembly hall in Daytona, there was a huge announcement at the bookstudy and the subsequent meetings that the contributions were not enough and they didn't have the money to send to the society for the rent on the assembly hall. I think it was several thousand dollars short, anyway the brothers dug into their wallets and more than enough was sent to the society to cover the costs. I wonder what would have happened if they had sent a letter saying they couldn't pay the rent that month, what would Brooklyn do? Foreclose?

Most likely each congregation body of elders would have been assigned a portion to pay and it would have been put to a resolution in the congregation, one elder making the motion, another seconding it, and then put to a public voice vote in the congregation, daring anyone to say anything.

Even if the elders have to ante up out of their own pocket.

After books are paid, utilities, paychecks, food for bethel, shipping costs. Then what? What happens to the savings? Who has control over that? Does anyone use the money for personal use, property, etc,?

Well, maybe if the WTB&TS was not paying out so much in Court settlements and Lawsuits, there would be enough money to go around.

Should I give money to them? You "friends" decide and I will donate or I won't. What do you think? Let me know if my money would be better spent elsewhere.......KIM

It totally pisses me off how they do the accounting. They (also at assemblies) pass resolutions and send money to Brooklyn then say how the accounts are in deficit. Pay the KH or assembly first and then IF there is money left over send it to the world wide work or Brooklyn

Here's an interesting side note/question? When we went to our circuit assemblies, we went to a CO assembly hall owned by th WTBTS. Each time "brother bean counter" came out to give the financial status report of the how the assembly was going. One thing he did say was that the "rent" for the weekend of us using the facility was $13,000.00. WTF is up with that kinda of price? They owned the building? Talk about bending sheeplike ones over!

Exactly - then they beg for money and say they are in deficit and they have just sent a shitload of money to the world-wide work, and yet they rent the hall of the WTBTS - Garybuss is right - this is just a publishing company that is trying to maximize profitability
