Even in the ot, word has it that yhwh actually wrote the ten commandments - twice. Word has it that jesus left only two, count them, two commandments for his homies. How long would it have taken for him to write em down? I do realise that once he hit 30, that things really picked up for him, socially speaking. Still. It is claimed that jesus could read. But, the lack of even one document by him could cause a skeptic to wonder if he was able to write.

As for paul, it is true that he made a lot less rules than say, moses. But, compared to jesus (see above), it's another story. I am attenpting to find out exactly how many rules paul did produce for ~~his~~ jesus' followers.

Being perfect in mind, body and soul, jesus would have had no need of an editor. He could have blasted off his own gospel in one night, then been ready to produce a fine fish breakfast for 12 at daybreak.

This is what pisses me off about people talking about "perfection". They act like "perfection" means super human. I mean really people. So by being perfect someone can write a 42 page thesis, solve the socio-economic issues of Uganda, clean the house from top to bottom, and still get a full 8 hours of sleep. Get a grip!

This is what annoys me most about Western Christianity. They teach that somehow mankind is supposed to be happy and in orgasmic pleasure 100% of the time. THIS ISN'T REALITY. As humans we will have good days and bad days. Some paradise earth where we will never feel sad or lonely or hurt.... what a bunch of b.s. These emotions are not negative emotions! They are part of the human experience. Any religion that preaches some sort of utopian, David Thereou'ian existence is just plain crazy.

You might as well join up with BrownBoy and go to La La land otherwise.

I agree evilforce, for similar reasons I don't believe in the existance of heaven. Good exists by the mercy of evil and vice versa.

So true! Also, if you are a communist, Jesus speaks like a socialist. If you are a capitalist, Jesus espouses capitalism. Monarchs feel that if Jesus was a 'king', their own monarchies are also thereby validated. We all have a preference in interpretation, and it's interesting to me that so many can find support. I don't see this as a bad trait, necessarily.

I think (as a Christian) that his miracles and teachings left a greater legacy than books could have. Jesus said that his disciples would be his witnesses (the evidence); that is, that change in their lives by the Spirit of God would be the evidence, not a book. Writings can always be disputed as to authorship (even more recent writings--think Shakespeare); but a true change of heart is harder to disupte, imo, and is looks to me to be more effective (spiritually) than a piece of art or a book. ...In other words, I can't help but think it is more appropriate for God to wish to write on men's hearts than in books.

In that case, his oral method was defeated when paul started writing down rules, laws etc.

I have come to this same view; Jesus freed his followers from the burden of rules and the opression of the power structure;

Paul, intentionally or not, reinstituted it all.

Sigh.
