I understand that having to deal with these nasty people can literally make us sick! It's good to feel better.

My family life . . . my whole life changed for the better since I quit associating with Jehovah's Witnesses.
Ditto. And I was in pretty deep.

From a physical standpoint, I can see that not being a JW is good for you. Good health to you!

Shunned by my parents, but that is their loss.
I think my relationship is better with my child now that we are out.

I have some great ex-in-laws but haven't spoken to them since I DF'd the apostate GB so don't know if they are going to go apostate with the GB or not and shun me. My true friends haven't shunned me and the other JW's are only following orders from the apostate cult leaders because they don't know who really controls the bOrg. Ex shuns me and so far hasn't honored court ordered visitation rights. That's about to change for the better, though.
Life is better all the way around because I now serve Jesus instead of 12 apostates who are on the Governing Body of a Satanic cult religion.

Lost all my family, tho' they maintain minimal occasional contact in hopes of luring me back to the org...
...still trying to figure out how to create my own family from scratch...
garybuss----not sure if i ever told you, but the things you wrote about family which I read at freeminds was very transformational, liberating and healing for me...so thanks so much for sharing your experiences, thoughts, and feelings!!!
~Merry (of the JWD-is-like-family-to-me class)...(so, special thanks to Simon for providing this "half-way house"!)

It was a huge adjustment in our family, but we survived. We had lots of marriage problems at first, because I changed so much, and was not "in subjection" anymore. He finally got used to that, and approves actually.
In the extended family, not much has changed. I know my JW mother will never shun us. So far, my aunt and one cousin, who live in another State still call us (and we call them) to see how we all are. They know everything about us too. We were a pretty liberal JW family................maybe because they all became witnesses in the early 50's when things were not so tight.
My husband's youngest brother and his family shun us and never respond to cards, letters or emails. In fact I am blocked from their email.
The rest of the extended family are all out, like us...............my side and my husband's.

As a child, I wished I had a family like this.
That statement does it for me. Thanks
