Have a blessed day

I have noticed that every time I go to a local store, the checkout girl always says, "Have a blessed day" as I walk away after the transaction.

Has anyone else come across this, and am I the only one who finds it annoying? It seems to me that people who do this are "show boating" their religion... basically blowing a horn and saying: "Look at me! I'm a Christian!!! (Would you like to be one too?)". Basically, I find it very intrusive.

This also reminds me of a self-righteous JW I knew.

He got a kick out of telling people, "Enjoy your day" and explained that he liked to say that to people he didn't like because he wasn't actually wishing them to have a "good day". He further explained that it meant he wanted people to be miserable in the bad things that happened to them in the course of a day.

It would'nt bother me personally. As long as they don't wish me sh@##! day. I guess I have a lot thicker skin in that respect.

Ah, I've heard cashiers use the "Blessed Day" expression a couple of times. It bugged me too but I wasn't sure why so I didn't say anything.

Ew on the brother and his "Enjoy your Day" reasoning. That's just wrong.

Yeah, I think he would fit in perfectly with the WTS Writing Department.

totally. this irritates me too. sometimes, if i am feeling prickly, i reply with a smile:

    "thanks, but nature already has."

Why would this bother someone? I think any day that I am awake I'm blessed.

It would annoy me but I don't think I've ever heard it.

At Disneyworld, they wish you a "magical day".

Next time just smile and say, " ah yes, I thank his royal highness of all things dark, my lord and master, Satan, for all his many blessings!"

    or

"hmmm, I'll bet you say that to all the shoplifters!"

    or

"Praise Allah- right back at ya!!"

    maybe

    "Puhleeze! Blessings are for freaks!"

    That oughta kill the mood.

Have a blessed day, i am not sure how i would feel but i would assume they were some big religious freak if they said that.

I suppose it is better then " drop dead"
