When is the world going to end?

It may involve only a difference of weeks or months, not years

Keeping in mind that ALL the utterances coming forth from Brooklyn have been taught as truth, and expected to be accepted as such by the JWs. All the proofs mentioned above were all taught as "gospel truth" and each "revision" was see as new light.

Considering that God hasn't changed, Jesus hasn't changed and most of all---the bible hasn't changed-----we can plainly see that the Watchtower views have changed. What is taught as truth has proven to be in error. Many times.

As the bible says----no man knows the hour (let alone the year) and frankly, I don't worry about it. Living our lives to the best of our ability and being kind and helpful to others is what Jesus said to do----and should be quite enough to handle without concerning ourselves with the "what-ifs" of foolish old men who prophesy false dates and end times.

I wouldn't promote being an alarmist. Might join a cult like the JWs eh.. North Korea isn't going to commit political suicide by sending over bombs. Their people are almost dead pretty much and they're just trying to have some political clout with the rest of the world. In fact, if I were to be so bold. I would say people need less god so they'll stop complaining about how bad the world is and just fix it already. This isn't directed towards anybody.

    Daunt,

17, huh? You sound a lot more mature than that!!! (according to when my kids were 17!) I spent far too many years being "alert" to the end of things, and where do we stand now?

I just don't pay it any mind--I can't change it, even if I knew something was headed this way as we speak! It's (to me) wasted energy and it robs us of the enjoyment of today, and I don't want to devote that energy into negative "possibilities" any more.

In the old days of the cold war if the US or Soviet Union fired nuclear weapons the the other side would retaliate with all they had. This was called "MAD" Mutually Assured Destruction.

There is no such defense strategy today. If North Korea, India, Pakistan, Israel, South Africa or even a terrorist group detonates a nuclear bomb it will be devastating for the bomb site but the rest of the world will not be effected.

    Good point Annie

Also, since I no longer have an active Armageddon phobia - it's a lot easier to just not worry about it.

It ended in 1975. What? Did you miss it?

Elderwho or anyone - where was the quote in the WT publication about it only being a few months (not years)?

Does anyone here remember sitting through the WT studies in 1966 about "Why are You Looking Forward to 1975?" I was there. I don't remember anyone arguing with the reasoning in that article.
