You ask: "Is this experience a sign that Satan and the Demons had taken over?"
I must ask you: why IS it that whenever a "spiritual" event occurs, folks automatically attribute it to Satan... whether it is good or bad? Why do we assume that if a "spiritual" event has occurred that it has to be a "bad" spirit that caused it? Why do we assume that there are only BAD spirits?!! Dear one... God... is a SPIRIT. Christ... "became" a life-giving SPIRIT. Your life was saved, due to an intercession you can't explain... and in return you ask if the spirit was... Satan. Why?!
I will tell you why: because religion, the greatest false light set up by Satan... part of which is the Great Harlot* and her "daughters"... has never taught you that you can hear God, that you can see God, both through Christ, that God and Christ do hear you and do speak to you and can and do intervene! They can... and do.
But you have been part of a great conspiracy: your education of regarding what "faith" really is, which miseducation has led you... and most of mankind... to believe that God CANNOT and DOES not... while Satan can... and does... all the time. Why? For the very purpose of leading you not to God... but away from Him... and to Satan. Don't believe me? I ask you, to whom did you imply saved your life? To whom did you attribute such good deed? I know, I know, you're thinking, "I only asked if it might be Satan and company." Dear one, it could have NEVER been Satan and company, for they are God's ADVERSARIES and, therefore, yours and mine!
Satan, dear one, wants you dead. Eternally. Period. "Skin in behalf of skin... and ALL that a man has he WILL give on behalf of his FLESH." While he may not have helped you fall asleep (your flesh is the culprit there), he certainly wouldn't step in and prevent your demise!
Rob, Rob, Rob, dear Rob - IF you truly believe that someone intervened on your behalf, then give the glory where its due: to the Most Holy One of Israel, whose name is JAH, of armies, and to His Christ, the very One who more than likely was your "savior" that night. Or... do not give it to anyone, but certainly do not attribute such a wonderful thing as having your life saved... to Satan the Devil. For that truly cannot be... but may, instead, be blaspemy... against the Spirit.
(NOTE: The Great Harlot is NOT the "world empire of false religion." It is an entity made up of those formerly of the "body of Christ," who received holy spirit as an anointing and symbol of their unity with Christ and so became ONE spirit with him (just as a man become one FLESH with a woman)... who FORSOOK that choosing in order to "fornicate" with the kings of the earth... organized, institutionalized religion. "Uniting" with such "kings," THEY become her paramours, her lovers... and lead her AWAY from her true "husbandly owner," the One who BOUGHT her, with his blood, Christ. Rather than following HIM, and clinging to HIM, and obeying HIS laws, this "harlot" follows after popes, and bishops, and elders, and reverends, hired men, strangers, who seek only to ravage her fleshy parts. And they do, by means of taking her "treasures," spiritual gems, and using these to slaughter their fellow men. Through this, SHE is guilty of the blood of the prohpets, her own brothers - just as those before her were guilty, from Cain who slaughtered Abel, to the Jews who had Christ impaled, to those who persecute and put to "death" the brothers of Christ down to this day.
Her "daughters" are the religious factions, including Catholicism, Protestantism, Fundamentalism, etc., AND THE WTBTS, ALL of whom were conceived as a result of her fornication and thus have come out of such adulterous relationships. Thus, her children... are illegitimate sons!
For unless she has been called to peace by God (due to abandonment or abuse), every "woman" who follows the "law" of another "man" while her "husband" is still alive commits adultery. Although a spirit, Christ... lives! And, therefore, any who claim to be his "bride" IN SPIRIT... and yet follows the SPIRITUAL "law" of some other "man"... is a harlot. For he has not forsaken us, nor abused us, just as he said, "I give my LIFE on behalf of the sheep," and "Look! I am WITH you... all the days..."
