Does any one know who writes all the WTS literature? Books pamphlets, magazines? I heard there is a writing department consisting of about 200 individuals.

Secondly what is the service department, who make it up and how does it function?

As far as I know the writing dept. is as you described it, as for the amount of people in it I cant say for sure.

The service dept. controls (emphasis on CONTROLS) most matters pertaining to the ministry, they write the kingdom ministries, assign CO's and DO's to their respective duties and assignments , handle all correspondence to and from elders and elder bodies, they also monitor all regular pioneer corresondence. They approve appointments of elders, ms's, pioneers. They field questions from elders via assigned service desks. I am sure there is more but this is what I know of. In my opinion the service dept. has a much greater role in maintaining organizational structure than the writing dept. Many consider them the WTS "Gestapo" for the lack of a better description.

So the service department seems to be quite powerful since they decide who should participate in the various ranks of the hierarchy beneath the GB, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit LOL.

But if the writing committee is made up mostly of non annointed doesn't that expose the GB as manipulators since they exclude the annointed, whom they supposedly represent, from providing spiritual food? Obviously things don't add up here.

I think the GB/Anointed would use the analogy that God had imperfect men write his words and that they could have the non-anointed write the words under their direction and supervision and it would be the same as it came from them.

There so many people who have the finger in the pie so to speak. Most of the GB see the mags when the rest of the Bethelites do.

Fred Franz used to be quite colorful but lacking in tact. Now it is just the anonymous cut and paste crew. Has anyone ever taken a document and copied it, then copied the copy, then copied the copy of the copy, and so on. They say by the time you get to the 25th copy, it is so distorted you can bareful read it.

I wish to thank everyone for their input, however when it comes to the issue of the writing department I still think that use of the non annointed at a time when there are so many annointed is against their own rules and it is also very revealing about their true nature. Why not invite 200 out of the 8000 annointed to make up the writing department or even better why not invite all of the annointed to make an input into the spiritual kitchen of the JWs?

The answer is simple, the GB can't afford having others interfering in the way they run things so in essence they have gagged the annointed because they know that if they had a voice most of the 8000 would object to their way of doing things and that would destroy their prestige and status as well as their form of government over the Jws. Contrary to their dogma they prefer to use a number of non annointed yes men who are part of their circle and easily controlled.

So top power in the WTS will always be highly centralised in the hands of a few envious, power intoxicated men. Historically it was first Rutherford then Knorr and Franz then the 10-18 GB members. They all paid lip service to the rights of the annointed even claiming to represent them but who chose them to be their representatives when they (the GB)don't contact them about anything whatsoever? There are no checks and balances against abuse of authority or even unintentional mistakes when formulating doctrine.

I think the present Governing Body and the "anointed" in general, and their elder members in particular, are getting more and more to the WT corporation what John-Paul II was to the Roman Curia in the last few years: displayed as a token of "spiritual" authority -- although being left with little real power.
