    Looking forward as always Blondie......

What I find (which, as a JW, I never had to think about) is how Scriptures are (I think) ever so subtly popped into WT text, and interpreted for us:-

...... All who want to understand the Bible should appreciate that the "greatly diversified wisdom of God" can become known only through Jehovah?s channel of communication, the faithful and discreet slave.?John 6:68.

...But John 6 v 68 says:- Simon Peter answered him: ''Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have the sayings of everlasting life;''

    No mention of Jaraczic Park!

Honesty, you are missing nothing! You have it spot on!!

    Blondie,

Still, he does not promise his readers that they could literally live forever.

Yep, knew there'd be a get-out clause! The people who studied with the people who studied with me never expected their children to grow up in this system - but they have and are now in their 50s with children of their own, while their parents are in their 80s (never expecting to get that old). The people who studied with me never expected their children to grow up in this system and leave school - but they have and are now married themselves and in their 30s. I never expected my own children to grow up in this system and leave school, but they have (bar one who is 15) and they are now in their 20s.

Yep, they churn out the same old story year after year and people still fall for it. To get around it they use a clause, such as the above, or they change a teaching, such as the generation, stating that "the light has got brighter" after having held captive its members on a false hope for decades. I guess the only good thing about all this is that the GB will get their just deserves - and it won't be everlasting life in heaven.

the WTBTS puts more emphasis on having a relationship with the organisation and its representatives in the congregation rather than a relationship with Jesus.

I remember when I was first in my studies as a JW, I thought what I was really supposed to be learning is there was no God at all. The more I studied the more I thought that. Anyway, I then came to have a very personal relationship with God, blocking out what I thought was human crapola. When it became too difficult to be constantly filtering the BS from what was real, that is when I left.

Thank-you for validating my feelings. When I realize I didn't need them anymore to have a relationship with God, which is the biggest fear for the WTS, I walked away fairly easily.

I really believed for years I would never die......it was never in my thoughts, and everything was ok, how much I lost and sacrificed, as everylasting life was the prize. I forever kept my eye on the prize.

    Thanks for posting.

What an irony that the organization which lionizes ``accurate knowledge" has an unbroken record of failed predictions stretching across parts of three centuries!

IMO, they intentionally mistranslate John 17:3 (``taking in knowledge" ) to perpetuate the myth that everlasting life depends entirely on accumulating and retaining facts, when in fact Jesus invited his disciples to ``come to know" God an His Son in much the same sense of intimacy that we come to know ``the insides and outs" of those nearest and dearest to us.

By that I mean those uniquely individual traits that prompt us to love and admire people while at the same time forbearing their faults and failings -- their likes, dislikes, preferences, peeves, personality traits, foibles etc.

The FDS being the means to reveal God's wisdom that's a joke, in words or actions where do we see the wisdom from above? In reckless failed prophecies that painfully dashed many people's hopes, ever changing and flip-flopping dogma, lust for power, conceit that does not allow correction of faulty thinking?

    Biblically:
"...the wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceful, reasonable, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy"

Does that match the behaviour of the FDS? No they are instead full of bitter envy and strife.

Yes , I agree that the "Prize" is a material goal .. Life, health, youth, a big house, your own land - everthing money can buy. That is why so many people play the lottery, to fulfil a material dream . The motive is the same.

They said once that one had a 14 million to one chance of winning the British Lottery. What chance would you give of "Gaining life's prize" with the WTS??

This is why JWs are leaving in droves. They are getting it---that it's all bullsh*t. The carrot is rotten and everyone is gettingto see that, the closer they get to it.
