The rank and file may never realize how things really work in a body of elders. Everything that is done has zippo to do with holy spirit. It's all about poltics, approaches, schmoozing and backroom deals. Much infighting occurs and manipulation is the way things get done. I don't miss being an elder.

it's amazing that the R&F think it is such a privelege to be an elder. when i was made an MS, the elders made a special point of telling me that it was an "appointment by holy spirit". it was weird at the time thinking that the holy spirit could have been so wrong, because i *knew* what i did in my spare time, and it wasn't holy spirit sanctioned. but i took it anyways. what a farce.
being an alder must have been one of the worst forms of delusion. i'm glad i never had to do it. -

Spiritual appointment my ass!
I was sleeping with a boy who got appointed MS while he and I were getting busy on the DL. Four years later this 25 year old boy was appointed elder while we still had sex every few months.
And I was messing around with a pioneer brother who was also appointed MS while we were sleeping together.
Bunch of BS that God appointed them. Besides who in their right mind thinks a 25 year old should ever be called "an elder". Only the Dubs and LDS'ers. UGH! -

Given that God appointed these men / boys and I was having sex with them outside of the "marriage arrangement" I guess God really doesn't care who I sleep with.

my dear minimus...we got a big dose of education on how the elder body works and the Boy's Club in New York, when we tried to "work" with them for over a year when we had our biggest problem with them. But it eventually propelled us out of the org...so it was a good thing.
