Do you hate the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?

While I agree with Tigerman...it is only to an extent...

I think it's great and strongly respect the people who have published books, arranged protest rallies, started web sites, etc... etc... But where we can do most damage is by thinking of "Death by 1,000 papercuts". We have loved ones, family members, friends that we can simply point out the lies of the WTBS. Something that easy, that minute can have dramatic effects. When talking about the Dub's at work to non-believers.... mention how shunning made you feel. Make the stories personal. Let others see the pain the WTBS has caused.

I do not think an outright assault on the WTBS is going to bring them down. Many people have rallied this. But also, we need to live our lifes as fully and functionally as possible....so do what you can, when you can to show everyone what the WTBS is all about. It doesn't have to be some grand action. And slowly but surely they will grind to a halt.

    Tigerman,

I helped some in, as well. Not a single one came in having received anything from me to indicate they should believe every word dripping from the pen of the Governing Body. I rarely ever placed a publication of any kind with anyone. I had tons of Return Visits, where I would honestly tell people that I believed Jesus was my mediator with God. A few asked whether Jehovah's Witnesses teach that and I honestly answered, "No."

Some people I called on became Witnesses. I would study with them and show them when certain things didn't match up with the Scriptures. When I took them in Field Service I trained them to use only the Bible, on the basis that we are supposed to be Bible students. More than one elder or pioneer tried to correct my "mistake" and I would show them, from the Scriptures, what the early Christians used in their ministry.

Not a single Witness I shared that with had ever thought about the fact that the early Christians never took the letters from the "Governing Body" in the ministry with them. Duh! Anyway, I was promoted to Ministerial Servant at a young age, and was removed not much later. I never have seen things the way the Governing Body teaches them. I never have taught things that way.

So, if one of my students started sucking from the teat of lies offered by that ungainly heifer called the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society instead of holding fast to the teachings in the Bible, what responsibility do I have in that? In the meantime, I have helped many to wake up. I have helped some who have helped many others to wake up. Should I regret having stayed in?

Tigerman: I stand by my original post and re-ask the question, " Why haven't most of you XJWs gotten off your ass and done something about the MONSTER in Brooklyn ?

You asked, in effect, "What have you done about it?" Many on this forum have done the best thing they possibly can. They have survived. I know you meant to inspire to action and I understand that sentiment, but you used guilt-ridden language that smacks of the Organization you dislike. I hope it was unintentional. Your apology is meaningless to me while you stand by your original post.

Most never take action. Most can't. Many others won't. Cheerleading for those who can, will, and do act, also serves a useful purpose in defeating the aims of this MONSTER.

    Old Soul,

I was told some years ago that tact was not one of my strong points . . .and they were right.

If, in your estimation, my post had guilt-ridden language I do want to say there was no such intent. As a matter of fact I had a brief discussion just the other day with a regular poster where I said I did not want to post a very similar topic because it was a subject that indeed would be guilt based.

This may be an excuse, but I've worked my entire life in an occupation that demands quick decision making with no time for discussion ( due to life safety ) and, whether good or bad, it has carried over into my private life. I can be abrupt. All I was trying to say was that with the remarkable experience and wealth of knowledge among all the XJWs, something CAN be done to let Joe Public know what is going on.

Evil . . . you're right, it's going to take a long time but the job WILL get done; one family, one kid at a time.

I agree. Something can be done. Right now things are being put in place to facilitate anonymous help from anyone with Internet access being able to play a small part in deflating the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. If my guess about the knowledge (power) that would be available under a cloak of anonymity is correct, the obsessive record-keeping and the sharing of "encouraging experiences" in this organization will lead to its undoing.

When it comes to helping cult victims shake off their indoctrination, haste can indeed make waste. It cannot be sped up safely. The depression would be severe and unbearable for far too many of our loved ones.

Perhaps you would be willing to explain to me, then. Exactly what did you intend by your question:

Why haven't most of you XJWs gotten off your ass and done something about the MONSTER in Brooklyn?

It appears to me that there is no other way to read this except that in your opinion XJWs have not done enough to suit your expectations. There is no other impact this question could have other than guilt or ire over an attempted guilting, but it won't play well on XJWs. For myself, I responded exactly as I responded to similar questions from the platform or magazines.

What has elsewhere done? What has rebel8 done? How about Jeanniebeanz or BrendaCloutier? What have they done? Just like the Governing Body, you don't have the first clue what any of these individuals have done or how big an impact it may have had. If you paint with broad strokes you will always go outside the bounds of decency, kindness, and good taste.

By the by, Tigerman, in my experience Joe Public doesn't give a rat's a... well, anyway, Joe Public is rather unconcerned with this tiny little insignificant fly-speck organization except to the degree that this organization affects their family or friends.

That is the way to appeal to Joe Public. Get them involved with helping their family/friends out and at the same time they themselves become thoroughly innoculated to the mental illness.
