Coldplay Rocks!!! Saturday Night Live just took me over the top with much of their comedy, an absolutely funny cartoon and Coldplay. It was the first time I've ever seen them perform live, they were truly awesome. I never pay much attention to the musical guest on SNL, however, when I heard they were coming on, my ears immediately perked up in anticipation of hearing them live, I was not disappointed. I already own 2 of their albums, Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head. I've played them repeatedly over time in the MarkVIII. They just did a bit on Prince. Tonites show, so far, has been totally off 'da hinges. Now we just went thru an Italian mob reminiscent of a scene from the movie "Goodfellas" The last tune played by them just brought me to tears. This has been a great show.

When I counted up my demons
Saw there was one for everyday
With the good ones on my shoulder
I chased the other ones away.............
That song was one that my wife had memorized because I would have on repeat in the MarkVIII for the first 30 miles of everyday. I love that song, and will no doubt be collecting a copy of the live album that's soon to be released.
They are as tight on stage as they are in the studio, I was floored, last night by thier performance.

Didn't see last night's show, but I just wanted to make a general comment regarding SNL: it's practically become a cliche for people to go on about how it was funnier in the 70's, or when Eddie Murphy was on it, or whatever. Bollocks! It's still funny as hell, IMO.
And really, when you go back and watch those 70's and 80's episodes, a lot of the humor is very obvious and dumb by today's standards.
Oh yeah, Coldplay is cool too.

I also believe that todays issues of Saturday Night Live, are some of the best comedic voices to come down the pipe in a long time. Horatio Sans as Kim Jong Ill, a few weeks back ago were hillarious. Mya Rudolph absolutely rocks. Finess Mitchell is on the way to becoming well noted. Often, the second showing from the history books is flat, and lack very little energy. I often wonder, as to the 70's, just what the Hell we thought was sooooooooo funny...........

SNL goes through cycles, in my opinion. The last few shows I've seen haven't been as funny as others, but I still watch. I figure there's that chemistry from time to time that makes it all worthwhile. Sure I miss some of the old timers, but SNL is about getting fresh new talent and they've done a great job over the years.
At the moment, I love "The Hollow Men"...now that show's a riot!
As far as bands, well...I'm at the moment into Hed PE and System of a Down. SoD has a new CD that just dropped on Tuesday. I can't wait to get it. That song BYOB kicks asss!

There is a certain something that happens when they hit the right note. They're in search of that one person who just shines, without question. I hope when that person is presented that they will have an opportunity to become truly polished before going on to greater things and not rushed through the ringer. Save some of the magic for the show.
