I'll tell you the ending. If you've read the original book, you already know it.
But in my opinion it's a good flick, but not a slamming one.
Go see Planet Of The Apes!

I saw all of the original Planet of the Apes movies, I enjoyed them. I am taking the family to see the remake next week.

I just saw it today. I loved the first one, this was OK. I enjoyed it and liked the way they tied it in to the original with the general's father.
I didn't get the ending though. I mean, I got it but didn't understand how it happened. Anyone care to enlighten me? Pmail is fine, don't want to blow it for anyone.

I didn't care for this movie at all. Save your eight bucks and wait for it to come out on video.
However, if you enjoyed Tim Burton's other work like "Sleepy Hollow," "Edward Sissorhands," "Batman" and "Batman Returns,"
you may like this one. Burton does an excellent job with the visuals, but the characters are flat. Worth renting on video. -

My youngest daughter and her boyfriend went and saw it and they thought it was great. As was mentioned, she said the ending was not the same and left it open for a sequel. She loved it. My oldest said she will go see it even if it wasn't that good because of Tim Burton. LOL

AAAgh! (Charlton Heston beats the ground) AAgh! The fools ! Damn you!Daamn You all to Hell! AARRRGHHH!
Englishman and all,
I'm not going to give away a plot point, but some might consider this a spoiler so scrollrealfast past this post if you don't want to see it.
Charlton Heston does a cameo in this movie and delivers the same line almost exactly as in the original. I started cracking up when I heard it, but I don't think most of the audience recognized it.

just saw it. enjoyed it very much. it was certainly not 'brutal' compared to JP3, so no objections there from mrs expat.
---- semi-spoilers beyond here ----
there were a couple interesting JW allusions i thought. the notion of a mythical origin story that is based on truth but twisted to fit the claims to divine right to rule of the upper class. and of course the final confrontation:
"everything i have believed was a lie. i will not help you."
i liked it all, right up until the last 5 minutes which seemed totally unneccesary and incohesive.
