I suggested they were doing this in a thread about a month ago, and was told that I was being silly.

Hmm, gotta wonder ... my nephew got a comp-sci degree, but he doesn`t work online, at least that is what I am told ...

Well I can see that they would spend time tracking people down... cause it's those pesky postates that are the problem....not the bogus teaching.

I wonder if they are kicking themselves in the butt for simply not giving Ray Franz his own branch in Africa or something instead of forcing him out.

IPs are unique to each host on the internet. Otherwise the the internet's global addressing system (IP) would not work. If I had your IP I could tell (probably) who your ISP is, what country you are from, and probably what city you live in.

What is displayed below your name is an encryption of your IP address. There is not a way based on that info for anyone to know anything about you, other than the boards admin.

Im not saying theres no way for the society to find out where you are from based on your usage of a particular internet resource, just not based on the alpha numeric symbol (IP) below your name.

Since Gill, midwich, and fleaman show the same IP I'd say that is probably a common gateway you all use and the board sees it as your host address.

As far as I'm aware, you can only trace to country and area with and IP address. I only know this from watching son and his friend whenever we had an attack on our computer they would trace the IP address with certain software, attack back and give some sort of warning and a map would come up with the country and area. They were taking A level computing at the time so if they could do it.....

Also,there must be software available to track address and names as well. How else would the police have caught thousands of paedophiles in the UK/

One poster here was identified and his postings were even used in his JC.

I don't think its paranoid at all to believe that the WTS higher ups have some people looking through this site. I think its mainly so they can prepare (they hope) more effective damage control.

While I agree that the higher ups want these apostates/leakers flushed out, I think all the grunt work is mostly done by fanatical elders, rabid with their cultic mental illness, and nothing worthwhile to do with their time.
