What do you see?

The cup is half empty or half full? The negative aspects or the positive aspects? The ugly or the beautiful? Have you experienced human dishonesty, falsification, hypocrisy, and devious argumentations? Have you experienced human integrity, honesty, humility, unselfish concern for others?

Have you seen the end result of various philosophies, concepts and courses of life that are all lessons of value that help you to arrive at conclusions?

Has the same critical thinking that enabled you to see through the imaginative, clever, plausible, confident and often condescending presentations of the Watch Tower organization helped you to see the same when it comes to the writings of other sources, theological or scientific?

For me, I see the cup half full, the positve more than the negative, the beautiful more than the ugly, the honesty more than the dishonesty.I have arrived at certain conclusions that could change with my open - mindedness for further knowledge and I have learned to use critical thinking outside the Watch Tower organization when it comes to other sources of writings.

Of course, my personal circumstances, past and present, play their part in my viewpoint.

Do you care to share, "What do you see?"

    Thanks Blueblades

I see the cup half full, yet still try to hold onto a realistic perspective. Just because the world is a happy place for me doesn't make it so for everyone else - compassion = balance.

I learned critical thinking skills in college and apply it to everything I read but being a former dub makes the process a little slower for me because I was accustomed to accepting everything they printed ver-batum. Now I read critically, asking questions along the way before forming an opinion; then to, I am free not to form an opinion, just let the information sink in until I have something else to compare it to.

Being open minded makes the world much less frightening as I am hopeful that there are other compassionate, intelligent persons trying to make a difference in the lives of others. That's one of the greatest freedoms in leaving the dubs., being free to really love and care about people everywhere, and doing something to make a difference be it through voting, charitable donations, activism - all doors are open.

I think I see the bottom line, if someone asked if the cup was half full or empty, for me I would say the cup is smashed, or just refuse to choose. Turn the cup on its side and all the water will spill out, so the analogy relies on gravity and the cup, and the concept of full and empty. Hell no.

In life and people's beliefs, I see people who think they know what is right or have the one true thing, be it a christian, a jw or a muslim, and I see them pass it on. I see people who don't think they are prejudice, or who I don't think are prejudice, pass on their prejudices to their kids, and only then I see the prejudice of the parent, and then I see kids grow up to be like their parents, and sometimes that's a good thing but sometimes it's bad, and I wonder if maybe we humans are of kinds, our nature is our species, and so being human is not one species, but many.

I think people need to feel like they are part of something, otherwise they feel like they are nothing, pointless and lonely. I think on a whole people prefer not to make waves, and just go with the flow of whatever the powers that be say, in ignorrance and ultimately what is comfortable for them. Normal people want to graze though their lives, I think only one out of every 100 people or less actually actively try to better themself and their nature in life. The rest aren't even aware of their nature.

By and large I see an unconscious world, sleeping.

It depends on the cup's previous state. If the cup reached the half-way point by being filled, then it is half full. If the cup reached the half-way point by being emptied, then it is half empty.

The cup is both full and empty and all states in between. What you perceive is merely based on the superposition of all states of the quantum multiverse.

I like how you write & pretty much share your perspectives, most of the time.

My cup is Half Full or Full! Some days I throw it against the wall and it is empty and broken.

Good thread! If I'm looking at something from a critical point of view, it is half emty. But if I'm looking for the good, it's half full. I'm a realist. A pragmatic man. But I don't wish to dwell upon all that is negative. It does you no good.
