Well, we tried to do one here last year, but no one wanted to come to the Maritimes. Toronto was easier for folks, so they had one there. That's not an option for me. Sorry.

Tetra, why don't you start a thread and see if anyone is interested in Western Canada?

Wish I could make it to the NE fest. :(

Stilla, there is nothing wrong with how you feel. You have every "right" to enjoy association with people that appreciate you for you and also have their "rose colored glasses removed"...

I think once we have received the knowledge that the truth(tm) is not truth, it does make it difficult to associate at the KH. Our perspective of life changes greatly!

I am fading...and haven't been to a meeting in 1.5 years. I don't miss the "judgemental comments" and demeaning labels calling certain ones "spiritually weak".

I have received healing therapy when I attend the JWD Board meetings! lol...for real!

Remove that negative tape in your head and replace it with: "I am RIGHT to feel this way!"

Stilla.......I think the difference is you know the relationship you have with the people at the hall have no real foundation.. overnight they could be gone from your life..

but we will care about you no matter what religion you are in......

besides.. I like when you hit on me.. (and others) .. your fun

It's refreshing to have people being REAL...and truthful about themselves. Lord knows Sith and I have gone round and round debating issues...you will never find that in the KH. They fall into the mind numbing group think / group speak. No one utters what their true opinion might be but spouts what they think they should be saying. That's not real. Discussion, debate, and questioning should be encouraged not stamped out. I mean really how else is Sith going to finally come around if I can't debate with him and show him how wrong he is? ( I'm teasing ) So here you have a group of people with similar experiences w/ being an ex Dub who aren't afraid of speaking their minds.

I could think of worse vices to have.

Since finding this site a few weeks ago, I have laughed so hard at times, that tears have rolled down my face. Great to mix with people that have been there...

Some of the best laughs have come from jws "defending" the wts and of course undercover christians of differing denominations trumpeting how they and god are in bed together.

Absolutely not; the reason is that here thinking critically is encouraged; laughing is encouraged; and there is more freedom than you would ever find at your kingdom hall.

I feel exactly the same as you; being here has been liberating.

    NO! You're right!

Start fantasising about liberating yourself from the evil Empire.

I know the family pull is a nightmare but maybe there's a way you can cunningly get around it.

Life is TOO SHORT to waste being unhappy in such a terrible organization.

Envision your life being FREE! Its just so GOOD.

Last Sunday my husband woke up smiling. 'No meetings! No field service! No studying! No JW crap! No JW's! Life is GOOD!'

Now imagine yourself waking up knowing you NEVER have to do those things again and your wife with you.

My husband said to me one day, about four years ago: 'I can't do this JW thing anymore! I can't do meetings, fields service...enough!'

I said, 'That's OK. As long as I can still go'

Then not long after I realised I had hated the troof my whole life. Every meeting, study, door knocking experience.

But my fear was so great of the big A that I couldn't cope and had a breakdown. But people helped me to recover.

Your spouse, your family, your friends, what do you think drives them to keep on with the JW nightmare but fear.

You daren't leave JW land because they will shun you. They won't leave JW land because Armageddons going to get them. It's all fear.

The only way to live is to step out and face your fears.

Life's TOO SHORT not to do that.

It's TOO SHORT. Don't waste it!

Still, it sounds to me that you are of the type of people that need intellectual activity and stimulation and certainly the KH or even the JW environment in general can not provide this.

Indeed it is not even an emotionally gratifying one since there is no brotherly love and affection to be found there and the quality of spiritual activity is also poor as it depends exclusively on a handful of ignorant and big headed old men in Brooklyn who believe that they know everything and can't tolerate advice or input from anyone outside their tiny inner circle.

A very empty and dreary place indeed there is basically nothing there. In essence that's why I left.
