Sadly the JWs do NOT WANT to believe that sexual abuse goes on amongst their ranks.
A friend of my mother's. brother in law, had to stand trial in Rugby for the sexual abuse of three boys, now older teenagers last year. Many JW friends and relatives went along to support the accussed and, like him, stood there holding their New World Translations. Apparantly this was ' a lovely sight to see such Christian support for their poor persecuted brother.' They all really believed that this man was a poor persecuted JW!!!
'We know how the world hates us because we have the truth and they make up lies about us!' My mother's words.
The man was found guilty and imprisoned!
But the JWs only saw it as persecution. My mother is still adamant that abuse is impossible in the JW organization and there are many, many like her.
