It sounds like one of those "What if the JWs were right after all..???" things, even if it is just coming from some dark corner of your mind. What I would suggest is asking the simple question: "Is it true?"

What ifs are one thing, but this is direct and to the point. It's nice to hear reassurances from others for comfort, but to root it out that's what it comes down to right? As well meaning and helpful as the people of this board is, only you can do this to see for yourself.

is the end really near? Nope

...or am i paranoid? Quite possibly, we're all a little paranoid. Part of being human. Survival instincts etc. But, bear in mind that your paranoia has been massaged by a manipulating cult and used, quite succesfully, to control you.

Known for being a worry-wart, I've learned this: With all the terror-alerts, bombings, religious wars, etc----Even if it IS true, what could *I* do about it anyway?

If and when it occurs, I'll find out about it the same time as everyone else---I have no control over it!

I really do not worry about it.

Jojo, I would like to add that many ex-JW's still suffer from WGS, Wrathful God Syndrome.

The best cure for this -- which is closely related to what I already shared with you -- is to spend as much time as possible out in nature. Be like a sponge as you are silently present with the aliveness around and within you. With mind still and mental commentary silent, be open and allow the aliveness to move through you. Really feel what it is to breath, to smell the fragrance, to walk and move, to feel the warmth of sun on skin, to hear the song of the leaves in the wind and the melody of songbirds...

Go deeper into the sensations of being with nature. Open to the indescribable sense of Life's vastness and connection with you. This opening makes it crystal-clear that the mental fabricated beliefs in tiny anthropomorphic tribal deities are silly and insignificant. Nature, Reality, what IS, is infinitely bigger than mens little ideas of gods. No need to carry them in your pocket anymore. No need to fear or be concerned with what you left back in the dirt.

Be very present with this moment of Life. Be kind and gentle to yourself and others. Carry this with you.

Don't worry Pretty Kitty... It's just a few lingering JW 'brainwashing bits' stuck in the cobwebs of your mind, waiting for certain phrase and scenario recognitions to activate a pre-programmed response intended to keep you in fear of living without the WT. In this case, the outlawing of religion triggered it. Used to happen to me all the time... EF is right too, it's not even biblical...

(hands Kitty a dust-magnate) Dust those things out of there girl! :)

If anyone thinks the end is "near", please tell me what the final "can't come later than" date is so I can mark it on my calendar.

When the date comes and goes, I'll let you know.

Religion has always been a big part of politics and war. Even before the witnesses. Even before Jesus era. From as far back as we can trace history. The witnesses have wisely borrowed this inalienable fact and used it to their advantage in acting like false profits to string along their members in believing their lies.

everyones end may be just a heart beat away,

one day you will draw the death card just like everyone else, why worry about what must be...enjoy what you have while you have it

and do not worry about what you cannot change.

it's the one prophecy of the wits i would like to see come true, but like is said here, it's not going to happen. i think daunt said that politicians love their religions too much. and EF said that politicians are not punished at the polls for their religion, but actually rewarded.
