Young man....young man?!?!

  When is a man no longer a "young man"? I, for instance, am twenty-eight years old (ignore the avatar) and am still called "young man" to this day, by both people I"ve met in person as well as on this message board.

  Is it really my age? Is it the fact I look younger than my age (most would pin me at my early-to-mid twenties)? Is it my childlike curiosity and inquisitiveness? Who knows!

  Don't get me wrong, I kind of like being called "young man" since it implies I have more time/life ahead of me. But...does it also imply immaturity? (I have been told by some that I am "like an old man in a young man's body" though)

  I had the same emasculating experience in the WTS. No matter how old I got I was never viewed as "old enough".

  To quote Fight Club: "I'm not a man, I'm a 30 year-old boy."

  I had to leave to WTS to be recognized as a man.

  Don't knock it, get away with being as young as possible for as long as possible. I nearly kissed the door woman at the casino in Niagara last week when she asked me for ID! My boyfriend was not so pleased!

  i found that the less i talk the more mature people think i am. the more i say, the more people realize i'm a dumbass.

  One stops referring to a person as 'young man' when they lose the need for self-absorption. When this happens people refer to you simply as 'man', as in, "Hey man, why aren't you self-absorbed?'.

  Eventually as the years progress, it becomes clear that there is nothing about you that is young, then people describe you as 'that old fart'.

  These Brad, are the stages of 'man'.

  i think when people are more than 20 years older than you they will call you 'young', that is until you are 70 and the other person is 90, then I think they will look at you as being old like them.

  One is a young man until the intro to "YM.....CA" no longer makes your hips move at least a little.

  The way I figure it is you will stay a young man until you become an elder and then over night you will become mature. Until you achieve this they will continue to look at you as a young man just so you know you're are not mature yet. IMO!
