If I remember rightly, the four ages of man are:
Lager, Aga, Saga* and Ga-Ga.
So, on that logic, you stop being called "young man" when you become more interested in cast iron stoves, and (slightly) less interested in booze.

A lot of men and all women try to hide a few years but you seem to have a love affair with maturity.
Being called young man shouldn't necessarily imply immaturity when people greeted me (good morning young man etc) that way, I never felt they were hinting at immaturity but rather at energy, ambition, and future prospects.

When is a man no longer a "young man"? I, for instance, am twenty-eight years old (ignore the avatar) and am still called "young man" to this day
You must be short. Sadly, short men are afflicted with two burdens in life: Being patted on the head and being called "young man". The only solution is gaining at least six to eight inches in height. Suddenly, you're no longer short, patted on the head or called "young man". Yes, I know: It is a very unfair world.

He's not short, but he does look very youthful.
IMHO the rite of passage for THIS stage is often the ability to grow a decent beard (whether you avail yourself of that ability or not), or even a decent five o'clock shadow. Thus it has been through many generations and in various cultures.
Anyone young enough to me my child is a young person. I still am called a young man by people old enough to be a parent to me. So you're a young man to me Runner, and always will be!
