On topic, we never went to another hall on vacations. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?
When people go on vacation they want a total escape from daily routines so for one or two weeks they should be left in peace even by jehovah.
When I was going on vacations as a dub I would totally forget all about them and enjoy the change.
I have a lot of sympathy for Jehovah in this regard. Every time one of the robotic writers composes some predictable drivel about witnesses never being on vacation from Jehovah, I imagine Jehovah sitting on his heavenly throne, sighing in his weary and long suffering manner and muttering, "I could actually do with a vacation from the witnesses myself!"
When I was a kid and we went on vacation if my parents couldn't find the KH in the phone book, they'd go to the police station and ask. Alot of times, when my stepdad would ask about local motels, we'd end up spending the nite with a family. There were 5 of us kids. To me, it was embarrassing.

crazyblondeb, sounds like your dad was a moocher. A friend of mine had a faher who always dropped by at dinner time.
I've been to the meetings on most all vacations I have been to...
Last summer, I went to a Graphics Program at a College... It was a priviledge to be selected (25 out of 4000) and mom wanted me to go to the meetings there. I told her I wasn't going to go and so she told me I could do the telephone tie in on my cell phone... I hung up after the first ten minutes for all 3 meetings I was supposed to listen to... But I "studied"...
As a family growing up, we rarely went on vacations. When we did, I do remember hitting the local meeting. That just was the ultimate insult to a perfectly good vacation.
As an adult, there was no way in hell I was going to look up and go to the meeting wherever I was. No way.
