Met my husband through online BBS (local chat lines before WWW was graphic). We have known each other 14 years now, married 8. Works for some people, others it only brings a bunch of heartaches. As in real life, you just have to be careful!

JV,
THere's a lot of freaks out there.
Hope you find the right kind.
I had the same question only few months ago, then tried and tested on my own.. and finally met her.. we've been together for 2 months now, and that's my best relationship. Try your luck, then
JimTX,
It's so good to hear that you've found someone you love. I think these type of things happen when you're not seriously looking. My husband and I met at a church volleyball league. He'd been in my Sunday School class for years, but we hung out with different people and we didn't really know each other that well. We knew OF each other, but that was it. He was really shy and I didn't think he'd be interested in an "older" woman anyway. (I'm three and a half years older than him.)
One day, when I joined the church volleyball league, I noticed Neil was on an opposing team. And he was VERY good. It impressed me that someone so quiet could be so intense and athletic. In the past, the beefcakes I'd dated were outgoing, outspoken, and arrogant. (Please don't ask why I was always attracted to that, but I was.) After several weeks of playing together, we went out for a bite to eat after the game. That night in the parking lot he asked me out on a date and almost two years later we're standing at the altar together. The rest is history.
I love love stories. *sigh*

My wife and I met on the internet, though it was not a dating website.
Couldn't be happier.
My husband and I met online. We have been together 7 years since we met in person....and we were penpals. We met through Almost Online...(AOL).
2 wonderful little boys later....and of course lots of trouble with the watchtower.
Most of my online friends have met their husbands online..so it must be working for someone!
I would just recommend if things don't add up...don't dismiss it. Most people can't keep things straight for long if they are trying to be dishonest...unless of course they are some mental psycho.
Good Luck!
let me put it this way.....someone is richer out there. I'm still looking...lol
I might try it
Turns out - she lives in the same trailer park - only a few trailers away from me. We met - I took her out - and we are now very much in love with each other. It has only been about 2 months now, but I look forward to seeing her each and every day. Being with her... touching her... talking to her... etc.
Jim,
I loved reading your story. Sometimes what we seek isn't so far away afterall...
EF,
Where have I been? You got married four weeks ago! Congrats my friend.
