Just read you piece EF - thank you - informative. Here's reason for thought - if Ebola is found live in feces, we are compelled to recognize it as a traditional pathogenic virus. That still leaves the question why they don;t find the live HIV virus in deceased hosts.

Well SJG I certainly do not envy you or feel jealous or threatened by you.
If I have any feelings at all towards you, it would be sympathy.
Actually I have no feelings at all for you or about you.
I view you as just another person, with severe low self esteem.
That feels the constant need to convince others of your abilities and superior intelect.
A person whose personality is caught as it was as a teen ager ,and has not developed into an adult personality.
Actually I guess I do have some feelings for you, sympathy and I feel sorry for you.

Why Georgia
First...I feel really under-educated compared to some of you on this topic so please don't attack me. I spend my day chasing 2 little boys and reading when I can.
I read 2 books on this subject. One was by William Close and the other was called the Hot Zone by Richard Preston. My impression was that they found some of the components of the virus' in Kitum Cave in Africa (scratching head trying to remember).
I have no doubt that our government could have taken those components and played around with them to make some evil biological experiment.
Just my 2 cents.....

Before getting into a technically dense discussion of the evidence one might ask a simple question; is there anything a layman might accept as proof for the existence of the virus? Usually photographs are considered good proof, with the obvious fakery caveats. There are literally thousands of papers in the primary literature with excellent images of the virus in various stages including within an infected cell, budding from a cell or free from any cells. There are even numerous such photos published on the web that you can look at right now. Here are a few.

SJG QUOTE - "That still leaves the question why they don;t find the live HIV virus in deceased hosts."
There have been several studies that have looked at how long HIV survives in a dead body. In unrefrigerated bodies, HIV generally survives up to 24-36 hours after death. However in refrigerated bodies, the survival time of HIV is significantly increased. In one study, in bodies that were stored at 6 degrees Celsius (42.8 degrees Fahrenheit), HIV was still viable for up to 6 days. In another study, bodies refrigerated at 2 degrees Celsius (35.6 degrees Fahrenheit) were found to have infectious HIV for up to 16.5 days.
Now, this does NOT mean that HIV will survive for up to 16 days outside the body! The environment inside a recently dead body is quite different from the environment outside the body. -

SJG....My source was the online JAMA. I have the link on my home computer and I'm at work right now...I'll dig it up for you if you are interested.

WG - thank you so much for contributing. I want to find and read your references and may have some questions afterwards. It is fantastic that you can refer us to what you really know, as opposed to some on here who have no constructive input, only criticism. All they know is how to tear down.
In business, you have those who pose the problem along with the solution; those that recognize there is a problem and ask for answers; and those who neither recognize a problem and lambaste those who do. In fact, that has just given me an idea for the next thread!
Thanks WG -

Thanks EF. That is how we learn - at least those who care to learn. I am interested in your source for the survival or the presence in deceased hosts please. So far, I have not found ANY evidence that those who die of Aids have a live HIV virus to show for it. If I do, I will have to reconsider my trepidation.
Based on your posts here and everywhere else, we would get along famously. You do think outside the box! Thank you.
