Has any area started tailgating? JWs thrive on the technicality. Technically, tailgate parties fit into the rules....(fire up the portable gas grills brothers and sisters-nothing like wholesome association in the parking lot, with fresh air, sunshine and a brisk walk to and from the SUV). Shoshana

the DC is so regimented now that you dont get to visit ANYONE. used to enjoy the DC because i got to talk to people i only saw a few times a year..last few years i went the stadium opened just an hour / hour and a half before the program so all you had time to do was find your seat.... they assigned us a section to sit in and clean so we were just near our own KH people, lunch was spent trying to feed the kids and then get in line for the bathroom, afterwards was tidying up our section then back to the hotel.

all the joy in association was gone. then a few months later most of the talks showed up in a watchtower anyway, so even before i quit going to the meetings i had quit going to the district conventions. SO not worth it.. its just a money making opportunity for them.

I can see where bringing your own lunch is faster/less espensive/somewhat easier than going out to eat, but why does everypeckin'thing have to be regulated?

It annoys me no end that I was so locked into this stupidity.

I remember their guidelines on only staying at WT approved hotels too. One older couple at the hall was very distressed that they were being counseled not to stay at this little family-run motel that they'd gone to for decades. They'd become friends with the owners over the years and would really look forward to their yearly visits. They got quite a bit pressure from Elder Pompous Dumbass about it, but they held their ground. I know some of their pleasure in the DA was spoiled though.

What the heck is wrong with a hot dog? Is it "worldly" or - horrors!- a phallic symbol?

    LOL.......

I wonder if the motive for these Dub Dietary Restrictions has more to do with "protecting" the brothers from exposure to apostates doing street work outside the stadium? Oh, sure, they want to do what they can to keep the consessionaires miserable - that's just a bonus.

Word is that apostates will be out in force this year, and the UADNA Traveling Circus will be showing up at some DCs also!

Well if you are disfellowshipped, as I was at the last couple of assemblies I attended, I was told I HAD to go outside to eat otherwise all the brothers around me would be breaking the rule "to quit even eating with the unclean one" technically.

Maybe in militant style I should just go to an assembly with a huge sign on my head saying Disfellowshipped and Unclean and then take a hamper of food and much my way through the whole session, thus preventing those with consciences from eating all day long!

I used to regularly post on two other boards and I quite often mentioned these ridiculous restrictions (orders) by the WTS on this subject. I always got two rehearsed answers............one was that I was a liar and this doesn't happen, and the other was that it was under Jehovah's direction and he knows what's best for us.

    Both excuses made me gag.

The biggest problem IS---that I would have gone along with the "program" and done exactly what I was "strongly suggested" to do, despite more and more personal hardship to me.

Annie.............who does NOT miss the "WTS way" at ALL!
