I just e-mailed the PBS site to ask them to interview some of the many ex-jw's out there to get a balanced view of the org. Now that I see the info about one of the producers being either an interested party or the son of a witness, then I don't see how we can get them to agree to be unbiased. But at least we can voice our concerns. At least they'll know there is a whole comminity out here who will not just roll over and let this BS pass without comment.
Campaign to stop pro-JW documentary

I just went to their site and in the FAQ section you can email them your comments. Limited to 500 words. If this is federally funded they should produce another 'documentary'. If everybody would write they will think their donations could be at stake and do something! carla

Thanks to all who have replied since I posted this topic one hour ago. Winston Smith, in particular - your enlightenment helps us to reach out to PBS with strength and conviction. Let's flood PBS with soft enquiries. I like the point that our goal is not to stop the program; rather, to provide PBS a soft warning that they would not want to air a biased piece.
I, myself, am posting here in a clandestine way because of my JW husband in the next room.

Oh christ..........that would certainly explain the "favourable" spin that PBS is giving them..........

I am going to e-mail them and ask them to sponsor and program "Father's Touch" beside this highly biased documentary. If I remember right, Donald D'Haene's story has also been adapted as a stage play.
You can send your comments directly to PBS (though they do not promise a response due to the high volume of requests they receive.)

I suggest that original wording is best. Large organizations can sniff out a letter-writing campaign. Bulk mailings have less impact than a few hundred originally-worded protest letters. A hundred originally worded letters means about a hundred original thinkers, who probably represent ten thousand people who think like them (but don't bother to write).
Here is what I said:
It has come to my attention that PBS has sponsored and is planning to air the documentary, "KNOCKING" www.knocking.org some time in 2006.
I find KNOCKING's message to be biased and promotional. Due to the uniform and controlling aspects of this religion, former members are shunned. Problems are ignored or swept under the carpet. There are many in the ex-Jehovah's Witness community that would find this documentary to be insulting.
I suggest that an alternative view of the Watchtower Society also be aired. I am not asking that KNOCKING NOT BE AIRED, but that ALTERNATIVE VIEWPOINTS BE GIVEN EQUAL TIME. I am a strong believer in free speech.
For instance, you might sponsor a television version of "Father's Touch". If I remember right, Donald D'Haene's story has already been adapted as a stage play.
Thank you,

It's really important that many of us drop PBS a few lines to let them know that there is another side that should be reported.
Thanks.

The program is being produced in partnership with ITVS (Independant Television Service). You can also post show feedback and comments there too:
