Zagor what you said is deadly accurate, and that is why I think witnesses spend so much time trying to get new recruits and no time at all trying to keep flock they have got from leaving - because they cant count their time with the latter as they are already baptised.

I honetly think that is the case, and also why witnesses dont bother helping each other out when they have problems or are down - why waste time on a depressed baptised person when there are so many other pressures on your time, and you need to get that field service in?

Its wicked and cynical, and it is costing them thousands of lost witnesses every year in every country.

A faithful sister had her fridge breakdown last winter. She would put her perishables out in the snow. Sometimes animals would get into the food. She didn't want to approach the elders about her problem. When some of her friends found out her situation THEY approached the elders. Elders made a visit and told the sister to take her problem (the broken fridge) to Jehovah in prayer and to pray for a better job so she could afford a new fridge. Then left....... naturally counting their hours.

When her friends found out about the lack of support from the elders THEY chipped in and bought her a fridge. WTS donating to a charity???? Right, when Gehanna freezes over.

I believe all the above replies are true. The WTS is all about making money. That's part of why I decided to leave the org. I felt like I was wasting my time in field service, and yet I had perfectly good belongings at home that I didn't need or want anymore and no one to give them to. I would receive things in the mail about food drives where the mailman would pick up any food you left out on a certain day, and feel bad because we weren't "supposed to" do any charitable work besides the preaching work. Sooooooooo SAD. Now that I'm free, I'm planning to look for ways that I can contribute my time and money in ways that will seriously benefit people. I believe Jesus was right, There is more happiness in giving than receiving.....if you give someone something they really need.

    More like this:

Actually, in such circumstances eldubers would quote that what Apostol Paul said somewhere, "who doesn't works whouldn't eath either" never mind he actually meant "Who doesn't want to work, etc, etc"

in other words whoever diverts funds and attention to anything other then WTS is a nuisance that needs to be dealt with quickly...

Thank you all for your responses, I see I didn't know a thing about WT society. That is sooooo sick. I can believe that one such an anti-social institution can sell itself as humanitarian organization, it blows my mind away... I mean I think that most non-JW hardly have a clue of what is going on in this cult.

WTS is registered with the gov't as a charity. This is a total fraud, and I hope one day they will get called to account for their deception.

They call their "World Wide Bible Edumakashun Work" the most important charity that can be done, because it give people the chance to live forever (insert hysterical laughter here). Gee, that "charity" looks an awful lot like a publishing empire!

WTS's response to the Tsunami Disater has be preserved here: http://quotes.watchtower.ca/tsunami_relief.htm. You will notice, four days after the disaster, there is no plan other than "helping brothers to buy locally available water". Even that wasn't so much a plan, as it was wishful thinking. If I'd been sitting for four days waiting for money to buy water, I'd probably be dead. Thank Goodnes for the real charities getting in there quickly.

Some have defended WT's (lack of) response by saying "WT is not a charity". Please see my first paragraph, above.
