    Pearls before swine

When Jesus said: "...This is why I have said to you, No one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father," the religious Jews took that as arrogance, presumptuousness and untrue. (John 6:65). Such thinking is not popular even now. We are certain you recall Jesus' words to the religious Jews at Matthew 23. Notwithstanding, Jesus died for all who would put faith in his sacrifice and subject themselves to his direction. (John 3:16). Many accept Christ as their savior, but on their terms.

The WTS puts themselves on the same plane as Christ; that no one can approach God unless they go through the WTS. Are they saying that their position on earth is the same as the Son of God's was?

Could be that they have already announced your DA; but then many elders prefer to have something in writing before they do that so they may still be waiting for your response.

    Good luck, Blondie

Isn't that exactly what the WTS does, accept Christ as their savior, but on their terms???? They make up their own rules and the enforce them on everyone else. As for the announcement, I couldn't care any less. I'm so happy to be done with that org. I've got most of my response prepared already, my husband and I will be finishing it this weekend and sending it off. There is no chance of us going back. Thanks Blondie

Take note of the contents of this letter and ask yourself if the local elders actually produced it!

I wonder if this letter was sent by the Society - and then re-edited. If so, it may indicate a more active response

to disassociation than in the past.

In addition, if the Society 'ghost-wrote' this letter, your reply is probably irrelevant. This reply was written to encourage

    the elders faith, not yours.

Metatron, I echo your sentiment. The wording of that letter sounds all too legal, much like other letters from the WT. However I am not aware of any recent instructions or letters to the BOE that incude this type of letter. Will have to make some inquiries.

Perhaps this is an attempt to stop the mass exodus that appears to be taking place.

No one is elated over it except those who are not Christian Witnesses of Jehovah.

How do they know the feelings of those outside of their religion. More cultism. It may be true that those not in are relieved perhaps even "elated" for the fact that you have seen thru them. They try to make it sound bad.

A host of scriptures spell out clearly how members of the congregation are to behave toward those who depart; we are certain you are familiar with these Bible passages.

What a lovely politely-worded letter. The first sentence in the above quote has just the right touch of threat ("... we are certain that you are familiar with these Bible passages.")

Despite our love for both of you, our love for Jehovah is greater an d it determines how we must behave towards you. The time that has elapsed since you mailed out your letter of resignation and our communique to you shows that we are not anxious to lose you.

The last sentence above has me puzzled: "...we are not (emphasis added) anxious to lose you." Shouldn't that read "... we are anxious to lose you"? Or have I missed the point of that sentence?

Can anyone confirm that this is a standard letter from Brooklyn that elders send out to people wanting to DA?

It sounds like a subtle invitation to a court of inquisition. They always try to be in control.

My own opinion on writing a letter at all is, why bother? But again, that's just me.

No one is elated over it except those who are not Christian Witnesses of Jehovah.

Jehovah's Witnesses and the members of the Watchtower Society love people---all people.

Haha!! Are they serious? They really DO bank on zombies, don't they johnny?

Can you say CON-TRADICTION? I Know you can! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
