ditto to everything. That's how I feel when me & husband have tried to discuss anything. He doesn't seem to listen and I can see he is busy thinking about what he is going to say next. It's not just me either, kids say the same thing, just different topics. However, now I think he has been told he can't discuss things with me anymore. But yet they are not controlling him! go figure. carla

I think too, that for some raised as a dub and the beliefs are so drummed into your brain , its almost scary to think differently or even let an idea that differs from the dub train of thought to enter your head. I know , even as a dub, when I was starting to doubt, you have this fear that Jehovah will abandon you.. and what if the new system really comes and you aren't there???? I think to really explore their doubts, JWS have to be ready to accept thoughts other than what the society allows. For some,, its a slow and difficult process. Some will never be able to break away from the WTBS's hold on them. I see the sisters I grew up with still out in field service. Its easier than facing the truth about the truth for some.

gbl ; good work any jw that will listen for 2+ hours. is getting something out of what your saying. and if he'sw complaining about how shitty the wt is to you every few months. he's thinking about it a lot more than he;s letting on to. every time he's willing to listen . keep working him. remember the light gets brighter and brighter. any jw that is willing to talk to me after hereing my position. over and over again . i know he's listening. what i have found effective. is to get jw's to stop using terms like. the truth. jehovah org. these books are inspired by god. etc. the hand ful of jw's that i talk with regularly . know they can't establish. such terms. as being factual. it's one small victory at a time then 2 steps back. but if none of it worked this board would be empty... john

Its one thing to complain, but to actually question what ones believe then put that person in the catagory, of hey I might have been wrong. And no one likes to admit they have been wrong about anything usually. Think of how many years this person has sort of devoted himself to the organization, and keeps coming back. He really believes the things he is taught or he would investigate it.

It take a person willing to have been wrong to really examine what they believe.

They are so convinced that they are morally superior to everyone else and so conceited, they will not listen to any kind of rational reasoning. They also think satan is putting all these ideas in opposers minds and they must have nothing to do with them.

What was the scariest was at one point in the conversation he just stopped talking. Just stopped. Then when I asked him a question for the third time he just replied, in total monotone, " I don't think I'm going to be able to hang out with you ever again." I was just chatting with him and I could see the stone Watchtower gaze come over his eyes. He viewed me as a blood-soaked apostate. He initiated the religion conversation and when it became apparent he couldnt answer any questions he fell back to apostacy. What the hell man.

Then when I asked him a question for the third time he just replied, in total monotone, you rung his bell. if i remember you posted a few months ago . with your dub friend saying the same thing. but he came back for more!!!!!!!it's the one's that can stop a dub in thier tracks. that makes them think. he didn't know the answer. and most likely no other jw will know either. if he has the nerve to ask another jw.(can of worms) jw's are not used to being asked questions they can't answer. when they stand there like a telephone pole. they are really searching their wt prerecorded responses. they feel let down by the org. for not giving them the answer. the seed was planted. no matter how they react. he will be thinking about it. and will be back for more...chip away at the stone. john

Apostate is the word Dub's can use to stop any thinking. They demonize the "apostate" so therefore don't need to consider what they said. They think Apostate = satan & liar = no need to think about it since they are evil.

evel force: yes that is the basic idea. apostate=satan. and it works in many cases. . but it don't allways work. the seed has been planted. and may never grow. but it's in the back of thier mind. somewhere? i use the law of averages. if i can only reach 1 in a 1000 jw's i try to talk to 10,000 . i had the chance to talk with 2 16-18 year old jw's siblings a few weeks. ago. they were cutting school to go pioneer. or maybe they have left school. the boy took a very hard line. and his sister was taking it all in. after about 20 minutes i broke the boy down. as a novice and a child. gave them a short lesson on what the wt told me 25 years ago . when i was their age.. i made him write down a bunch of wt quotes to look up. and he wrote them down. i checked. his book . to make sure. . i shook them up without yelling. maybe 10 years from now i may see this kid in the supermarket. and he will tell me he's no longer a jw. and shake my hand. john
