GBL, you say this man is your "friend", yet you both seem to be talking past each other and it is clear that he really frustrates you. From your description he seems to have dependent and self-defeating traits in that he complains to you about the raw deal he gets from the JWs but sticks up for the organisation. What is it that keeps you two "friends", given that you are so riled up by his views, attitude and manner?

Steve2: He's my friend because he's a decent person and I've known him for quite a while. He frustrate's me because of the cognitive dissonance. Also I use the term "friend" lightly.. its not like we hang out and go for wings anymore if you know what I'm sayin'.

Tetra, your experience with your friend is similar to mine with my closest dub friend. We used to criticise the dubs, talk about education etc etc When I left, I had lunch with her & talked about Crisis of Conscience. She is such an intelligent, lovely girl & we were even talking about moving to Melbourne together in order to leave together & get out of our home town. Then, a couple of weeks later, I got a letter saying that she couldn't be friends with me etc etc. I've tried contacting her a few times since but just keep getting rejection after rejection. I sms'd her about a month ago 'Open your eyes. I give up.'

GBL, I feel exactly the same. I wish to god someone had told me stuff when I was a dub - I would have run the hell out of there a lot sooner!

GBL I really feel for you. I wouldnt have the patience to talk to a witnoid because I hate that dull pain that comes from banging ones head against a brick wall.

I think you can work hard at not thinking (EF - by demonising everything with the trump card - APOSTATE), but if you are really a thinking person your brain gives you hell until eventually you have to give it some leeway - thats what happened to all of us right? My brain felt like a greyhound - it wanted to stretch its legs and run run run. I had it caged up in this small box where it couldnt even turn round. Im not sure when I called the RPSCA in, but somehow I had to let that poor dog out of its cage. And once it got going there was not getting it back into the box.

If your friend has a greyhound he will get out eventually, if he has a lardy lazy creature in his head, hes doomed!!!

GBL He's never going to get it, or see your point. It's gotto come from him. You said that if you were a JW & someone gave you that info you'd have done something. Not that I know but I doubt it, because you'd still have had the WT reasoning & would have come up with all their excuses for certain things. But because YOU found your way out - it hit home. And I'm sure that's the same with most of us. Because we found out for ourselves, because we were looking, questioning & had the courage to follow through - enough is enough and you can only go so far.
