Maybe try relating the account of the prodigal son to your mom, about how when he was repentent his father just accepted him back right away.. no groveling to the pharasee's elders to get back in. It might make her think a bit.

I'm not sure if she is or not. I know she still continues to see the baby's father (not a witness), and my aunt is not happy about that.
