A friend told me that yesterday he heard something on a radio show about JWs. They were promoting a new book to refute JW doctrine.

It has the SAME name as one of the JW books that are used to train JWs. He said it was interesting that it had the same title and wondered how the WTS would allow copywright infringement...

He didn't know the title either...!!!

    Does that help anyone???????????

Aude, If it isn't the same book, it is about the same topic. It would be an interesting book to read. I wonder what the author's history is that he wrote a book to expose the untruths about the JW religion?

**I wonder what the author's history is that he wrote a book to expose the untruths about the JW religion?**

Lily - I wondered the same thing. There was just a very short bio on the page and didn't tell why he showed such keen interest in JWs. However, I noticed that he also wrote a book called: 'Reasoning from the Scriptures with Mormons'.

I think it would be interesting to browse the book, but I'm not up to shelling out $13. I already have my OWN reasoning...!!

Well, we've heard no more from the wonderful person who started this thread. Nevermind. I can say this much for certain, the "best book for x-jw" is one that quenches the reader's thirst for the truth, regardless of whose teachings and sensibilties are upset. In other words, a book that does not stand in awe of human interpretations but subjects every claim to intense scrutiny. Thankfully, there are several books that meet the criteria, starting with Crisis of Conscience, and including any book by James Penton.

I've read Rhodes' book and there are some real gems in it. It basically refutes the JWs interpretation of their many favorite verses, providing key questions to ask a JW about each verse. It also gives you a little background on the context and the orthodox interpretation/explanation. Even if you do not agree with Rodes' theology, it is a good reference. It's been out for years now. Nothing new. I'm sure the WTS has it in their posession.

The book is called " Reasoning from the scriptures with the Jehovahs Witnesses" and yes its written by Ron Rhoades. It is a really good book, probably the best book in my arsenal. And yes it has been out for at least a couple years that I know of.

On Ron Rhoades he also has several other "Reasoning" books, Muslims, besides Mormans and JW's. He was on Hank Hanagraff whom is on the radio every day from CRI-Christian Research Institute. CRI does indepth study on cults and false religions. Hank is a very intelligent man, beside his deep Bible (true Bible) knowledge. He is one reason I found out the "truth" about the "truth". My son would listen to him every day and I would want him to turn off that "crazy, false religion guy". But...as I listened he made more and more sense...he was on at 3 in Callie when we lived there, now in the midwest (IL) he is on at 5 (time difference) of course! He is out of Rancho Santa Margarita in Callie (California). I suggest listening to him, he has people call in and ask him questions, when he does not have a guest speaker. Ron was on two days this past week.
