Brooke--sounds like you could make money with your art talent.

I am bored with my current job so I'm sending out applications to move up to the next level. I work for a state agency in California where our wonderful governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is trying to fix California's budget crisis by making us state workers take a cut in pay, pay more for medical benefits, ruin our retirement system, and a host of other delightful details. He was quoted at one time calling state workers 'evil', which I don't appreciate. I hate Arnie!!!

Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now. I am hoping to attain a higher paying state job working closer to my home so keep your fingers crossed for me.

My real job will start when I take an early state retirement at age 55. Then I will open my own business. I'm thinking maybe a snack wagon or something like that. Feeding people makes more sense to me than pushing papers around on a desk filled with government red tape.

I studied biochemistry and now work as a chemistry teacher self employed giving private lessons.

Being self employed is good because you don't have to follow a strict routine and can work as much or as little as you like. You are your own boss.

I so wish to make Art my living. When my kids get older I think I may get into it more. I would love to Do Art and Charity work. I don't really care about making money just something I am very passionate about. That's why my husband makes the money so I can Play! Ha ha ha!

I love my job and cannot see myself doing anything else. Well....maybe if I ever become independently wealthy, I will purchase or start a vineyard from scratch. Crazy oenophile here...

My job is my hobby. I have been in love with electronics since I was a very young kid. Heath kits were a blast. I've been in the wireless telecommunications industry for the last 13 years now. I work in what most people call a "central office." Although on the wireless side, it is referred to as a MTSO or MSO. Mobile Telephone Switching Office.

I get to sit on my ass most of the day playing online poker or spades. When I have to work, I am usually dinking around on a Lucent 5ESS switch and ALL of the other different manufacturer's equipment that make up a typical office. We have no less than 9 computers that we use to interface our gear. Multiple OS's exist around here too. Solaris, Windows, Linux, VxWorks, and two flat Unix variances. The manu's have their own unique programs to learn too. Those which don't work well, I create my own software to interface with. Other times I will go out into the field to train our cellsite techs on things they can't grasp. I get to travel quite a bit for work at times. Otherwise, we get to go on what I like to call "vacation." Vacation is best described as "job training." The company pays to send us to different vendor training across the US. Lucent is the best - their training facility is based in Orlando.
