Here we are, the Jehovah's Witness trinity of Book Study, Meeting Attendance, and Field Service. How does this match up with God's requirements? gringojj, here is some alternative poetry for your wife to mull over, just in case that dreadful poem guilted her out.
Matthew 18:3-6 (New International Version)
3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
Galatians 5:19-23 (New International Version)
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Matthew 7:20-23 (New International Version)
20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
Oh, yes. I forgot. These promises are not supposed to be for the great crowd of witnesses today. Are the Christian requirements that much different for them? Or are Christians today supposed to act like robots, go through the religious motions, ignore their neighbours, forget to visit their aunt in the hospital, neglect to visit their relative in prison, and thereby ignore Jesus' admonition?
P.S. I like Little Toe's poem better. Let's start an e-mail chain letter. We can dress up Little Toe as a young boy with leukemia with only six months to live, and encourage recipients to pass on the letter to as many as possible as this is his dying wish.
