My gorgeous husband has grown a full beard! He looks fantastic. I adore hairy men. Even in 100* heat he says he will never have a hairless face again. Before we were dubs he had always sported the full beard but shaved when he was studying. So I guess it was natural for him to grow it back. YIPPEE

Heck, if you have enough of it you don't need to spend money on clothing either

My husband, Clyde, was in a drama back in the early 70's, and decided to grow a beard for the drama. The PO came down on him about it, and Clyde asked why they had to buy fake beards for the drama when he could just grow one. Clyde got so much flack that he finally shaved it off and wore the fake beard, but a few years later he grew one anyway. Lots of criticism, but he just told them it was to keep him warm in the winter. He has grown several beards, then shaves them off, and grows them again. He is starting another one right now. He started fading years ago, but his final meeting was the Memorial in 2004.

I'm not terribly interested in growing a beard... but I'm not terribly interested in shaving either.
Back when I was going to meetings I would generally only shave on 'meeting nights', and now I could only be bothered shaving once or twice a week. -

I just don't get it, why is WTBS so much against beards???!!!??? Anyone?
Last article I remember reading about is was from 1960's or 70's I don't remember. Anyway, the gist of the argument against was in order to differentiate dubs from hippies of that time. I mean give me a break. Hippies are now in their 50 and 60's. Society (meaning normal human society, not borg) has changed so much from back then that such an argument in not only ridiculous but above all else insulting. What is wrong with someone wearing nicely trimmed and kept beard? Why is it that they can tolerate more, say, elder’s son coming with such a spiky hair that gel is almost dripping down his shoulders but can’t stand a mature male gentleman with a beard? What is even more ridiculous is that their literature is full of bearded people. Oh well these were from ancient times, weren’t they? If god has created beard why is it so wrong wearing it?!? Apparently, he didn’t intend it for women so very few have any natural facial hair. (there are always few exceptions of course)
I’d wish to see some modern explanation from the WTBS explaining why it is that they still like to keep this dinosaur rule in place.

I always grew a beard but I keep trimmed down to a short size, even in my JW days had it and nobody objected, in the USA apparently they are strict about it, but I can't imagine why they hate beards so much. It's another symptom of cultic control psychology I suppose.
